Hi everyone! I need some guidance here. I'm trying to send out my husband's application this week. I have a notarized letter from my daughter, and was getting one from a good friend of mine who met my husband when he was here on his only visit to my home.

So here's my problem...my friend sent me her draft letter today. How do I say this delicately? Her letter sucked! It was soooo wordy, and she even talked about herself (when she moved here, etc...which has nothing to do with anything). It needs to be redone...big time. I appreciate her effort but there's no way I could send it in.

Should I just send in one letter? I was only going to do two letters anyway (I have enough other evidence). What did everyone else do? Anyone get those RFEs due to lack of letters?

Thanks! I'm pulling out my hair over this one! "Frustrated FinnLove"

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

i wouldn't worry too much, try getting her to rewrite it might be a good thing. i believe there was some kind of format for affidavits from friends/family that you can use on here. i will try to look for it and post it.

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

Thanks enraptured! I did have the go-by and sent it to her, but she kind of went off on her own with it. I'm trying to get her to rewrite it and take out the 100 paragraphs she wrote (haha!), but I also don't want to sit around a week waiting for the letter. My goal is to send his stuff (I-130, etc...) on Thursday! I have to quit stressing about every little thing. I can't wait until it's sent and I can relax...for awhile!

Okay, now my friend has a family emergency and can't redo the letter. I'm not going to write it for her. So I'm going to stick with my daughter's letter plus a bunch of other evidence, and send this off this week. If anyone thinks I should get another letter (I guess I should call it an affidavit), please tell me! You're the experts, I'm the newbie...thanks!!!

enraptured did a great job finding templates. i never worried about this. we just got a letter from my husband's family stating they are aware of our relationship and marriage, how long we've been dating, etc., and 2 letters from hubby's best friends written in a funny way. one of them was saying how the guy knew my hubby's dating habits and how when i got in the picture they changed  the other one was saying how when we were about to leave for a visit to my country this other friend was telling him: "you'll come back married"

even if you don't have letters you shouldn't worry at all. there are so many couples who didn't have any and never got an RFE for that. plus our letters have never been notarized and still worked ok. don't worry about it, think of other more important things you could get as evidence  good luck with the process, have a safe journey (F):)

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad I found this forum. It's helped me so much! Now I just need to get the guts to actually send the application out...haha (if I review things one more time, I'll scream).
