We were approved for both 21 days ago!! Thank god! Now, I know what everyone has said about doing CR1 and I agree it seems a MUCH better visa. However, our problem is that my husband Tom had to leave 3 weeks after our daughter was born to stay in status on VWP. He has missed 5 weeks of her life so far and we want to get him here sooner even if it's more expensive and we take the K-3 route. I received the letter about K-3 with our case #. When I called though our case is in "additional processing" after 18 days of being there. I received the DS-3032 form and I want to know if I should pursue both and see which happens first??? can I even do that?? Please help---he is missing too much!!

thanks for your help!!

If cost is no issue then you should pursue both. Though your "additional processing" for the K-3 will likely be very short, London has been extremely slow lately in issuing interview dates. I was through NVC and had a CR-1 interview date set before they opened my packet 3 for the K-3.

If you can afford it, I'd suggest pushing onward with NVC for the CR/IR-1. Even if the K-3 resolves itself and London gets moving and gives you a K-3 date, you'll likely either have or be very close to having a CR-1 date by then. You can then decide if he should go ahead and get the K-3 visa, come to the U.S. then fly back just for the CR-1 interview. Your CR-1 date may be so close that it might be worth it to wait it out and get the CR-1 before he flies out. I wouldn't consider it a waste of the $470 if you go for the K-3 in the end as you'd be avoiding AOS.
