we are not to that point in our Journey of getting the visa done. But what happens at the POE. Does the USC go in the US citizen line then go over to the non citizen side ? I know Chase goes with me and not my wife because he is a USC.

At JFK, me (USC), my fiancee' (K1 visa holder) and our son (USC) had to go to the Non-Citizen line together.

We went through the USC line. Guy seemed a little annoyed about it. he made some comment under his breath like "another one that doesn't speak English" Was pretty quick and painless after that except for them confiscating one of my passports. They gave me more hell than her.

We went through JFK. I asked the lady directing traffic between the USC and non-USC line and asked if my wife with hr K3 could come through the USC/resident line. She said yes. We went through with no problems. The guy scanned my passport and admitted me, then took my wife's envelope and her biometrics, and gave her an I94. Barely a word was spoken, very smooth.

If you're not sure - as one poster above said, ask one of the people directing traffic - in almost every case I've ever read about, this person will direct them to the US Citizen/Resident line - even K-1 entrants can do the same.

I'm not 100% sure it matters which line you enter in. When I crossed on my CR-1 visa I asked the lady who was there helping which line I should go in. Afer looking over her shoulder she said "go in the 'visitor's line, it's shorter at the moment'.

So you can certainly ask, they are there to help you but in the end, they will either process you at the agent you get or re-direct you to another line.

Good luck

Hi peeps.

Hope you can shed some light, as my husband and I are trying to figure out of there are any friendly POEs.

We are considering two airlines (destination is New Orleans, where my husband's parents live): Continental and NWA. My daughter and I will be coming from Manila.

Continental flies through Guam first, then Hawaii (Honolulu), then Texas (Houston), then Louisiana (New Orleans). If we fly through Continental, are the immigration checks done in Guam, Honolulu or Houston?

NWA flies through Japan first (Nagoya), then Michigan (Detroit), then Louisiana (New Orleans).

Are any of these POEs friendly? We really would like things to go smoothly when we go home.

On Continental you go through immigration in Guam and customs in Hawaii. Guam is a very easy POE. Many of the IO's are Filipino too.

When I was dating Nan Detroit sucked. I would get the 3rd degree and searched all then time because I went to Thailand. The one guy doing the searching was nice he was married to a lady from Japan and said its almost a given I will be searched if coming from Thailand. After I go married IO was easy just told them I when to see my wife and son and I was on my way.

its funny the time I came back from getting married I told the IO I got married and he said Gratz and no other question. When I went to customs he was so mean, He made me prove I got married in Thailand, I even declared my wedding ring.

Oh other time I was getting searched by 3 people. the lady office of the bunch ask me if I am trying to bring my wife. I told her "what you think I have her hiding in my bag". hahah the guys all started laughing.

You can read the reviews of POE here POE
