Hi all,

I have a question. We have our interview coming up soon. We want to travel to Canada right after our interview if we are approved. Is it OK to do this? Has anyone travelled abroad right after your interview without GC?

You'll need your PR/Green Card to reenter the US.

But I read somewhere that if I get I-551 stamp on my passport I can travel abroad with no problem. Is that true?

If you are approved at the interview, tell the interviewer that you have immediate travel plans and would like the stamp in your passport. Chances are good that he will give it to you because of the travel plans.

True - the I-551 stamp is the same as having the PR/Green Card - getting the I-551 stamp at the interview isn't guaranteed though (in other words, they don't always do this). If you do not get the stamp, you'll need the actual card.
