Hi peeps.

I have no idea where this question should be posted, but I hope someone can help me.

Assuming we get our K3/K4 visas, we are planning to fly to Louisiana first before going to Florida (where my husband is from). His parents and his sister and her family live there, so we are visiting them.

We have two airline choices: Continental and NWA.

Through Continental, we would be flying through Guam first, then Hawaii, then Texas (Houston), then finally Louisiana (New Orleans). If we fly via Continental...where would my daughter and I go through immigration checks: Guam or Hawaii or Texas? Are any of them friendly POEs?

Through NWA, we would be flying through Nagoya first, then Detroit, then finally Louisiana (New Orleans). Is Detroit a friendly POE?

Would really appreciate your comments. Thanks!

There are reviews of each POE located within VJ. You may want to look there. Overall they are friendly. Some busier than others. But each person has their own experience

Hi!

When I visited my then bf (now fiance) last Dec. my POE was Detroit via NWA. I didnt encountered any problems then, I even told the officer that I brought a bottle of Tanduay Rhum with me for my bf and she said "Ma'am you are old enough to have a drink or two". :)

Goodluck!

Ohhh my first post was about the luggage at POE but if you are asking about the Immigration Officers at Detroit, they are very friendly. Didn't give me a hard time.

In fact I forgot to fill up the I-194 provided by NWA and he said, I will help you in filling this up since I know this is your first time to be here. Then he guided me to have fingerscanning and asked me where I was going to stay.

He did gave a hard time to the Japanese lady before me though, coz she is having a hard time communicating in English and couldn't exactly say whre she will be staying.

Goodluck!

As others have already posted Detroit generally receives very favorable reviews. My fiance's POE was Detroit as well this past June 17th and she encountered no problems whatsoever. Good luck to you.

hey i am in new orleans too and my wife is coming from manila in about two weeks, i read lots of POE reviews here in VJ, I decided that HOUSTON is the best and friendly POE. so she is getting the ticket manila tokyo and tokyo houston and she is also coming via CONT or NWA, I have to drive about 6 hours to houston to pick her up bcz i think after long flights she needs a little rest, i am hoping everything goes well with her flight n interview next week. If u in Louisiana please keep in touch bcz i have not seen lot of philipinos here in new orleans. Also that is the shortest route coming from manila and it only takes about 16 hours total flight time. thank u and good luck to u.

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

Ive heard Detroit is very easy and if you search there was a filipina who came to US and married a guy who worked for customs at Detroit.

Atlanta is where we came through and it was also a very easy entry, I mention this because we flew NWA and Detroit and Atlanta are two of their main entries in the mid US.

My wife's POE was Guam, very easy and hassle-free. Guam is very friendly and many of the Immigration Officers are Filipino. On Continental, you will do Customs in Hawaii and Immigration in Guam.

Hi AbbynSheryl!

You can't imagine how ENVIOUS my husband and I are to hear you will be reunited soon. Our Last Update has been stuck on June 3, 2009 (we filed our I-130 and I-129F in May 2009, we have NOA1s for both)...wonder what is taking USCIS so long? Rick's parents are in Independence, LA. We will land in New Orleans, then drive over to their place. His mom has a Filipina friend who has lived in the area (Hammond, I think) for some 15 years. Not very many Filipinos in Louisiana...kind of ironic since one of the earliest settlers in Louisiana were Filipino sailors (or was it fishermen) who worked on Spanish ships! lol

Thank you everyone who posted their inputs on the POEs, we are eternally grateful.
