yeah I saw that about the $320 fee for the extension form, and also read about having a good reason for it. The CBP basically state that you have to have a good reason for it, so we decided it's not worth the money just for a probable denial. Cross our fingers and hope the interview date isn't too far from her return to canada date. She's actually looking forward to spending some time in quebec, she was there years ago and still has some good friends there, plus she'll have time for the medical then too. Just sucks us being split up. Oh well. I'll be able to work on our beater car more I guess if they're not here. (Did anyone else know that canadian credit doesn't transfer over? good luck trying to buy a new car here..)

Yes, we have had many discussions about U.S. and Canadian credit.

There are many threads on credit...it's a struggle :(

I found that what I did, really helped me. I applied for American credit cards right before I moved, and with my Canadian credit history and address...kind of like 'just a canadian wanting a US card'... I did this within the first few weeks of moving here...I got a Macys card, JC Penny and an Amex...then as soon as I got my SSN, I transferred the cards to my US address....within the first month or so of moving here, I had 3 American cards and a US bank account to help start building credit.
