So I decided to come to the good old folks at VJ to see just how strange I am. :P

Well...since you asked :hehe:

How often I clean the floor...depends. In Florida I would sweep several times a day, because the cat would go outside and then in, of course - and so would we - lots of sand being tracked in - so necessary. I would vaccum instead of sweeping quite often as well.

Only had 2 rooms that we used that had carpets, I would just use the roomba in there like once a week.

Now we are in an apt full of carpet - lino in the bathroom and kitchen. Not sure how often it will all get cleaned, different residences have different cleaning needs, for whatever reason!

I clean the bathroom like once a week, but use clorox cloths a lot. Usually wash the sheets about once a week, I change the hand towel daily.

As for vacuuming here, will probably run the roomba twice a week or so.

I have a swiffer wet jet that I use to clean the floor and I recently bought a steam mop, that does a pretty good job ..

I do want to invest in a regular swiffer though.. would make sweeping easier ...

Interesting! Sorry it took me a while to get back to your replies as I was mopping away in the kitchen! :P

It seems I am not so strange after all. Not saying I am right and my husband is wrong we just have a different way of doing things, but as long as he isn't the one doing it, he shouldn't complain right? Riiight. :D

Oh and sheets and towels are changed once a week.

Dishes are always done right after supper as I hate seeing anything on the counters or in the sink. I know I have OCD tendencies and I am not using the term loosely. I have a wee bit of a problem and I have been told before. I'll get around to fixing that.. after I am finished scrubbing the sink. :P

I used to be somewhat of a clean freak - but I decided to relax a bit. I have a dishwasher, so try to get stuff in there and out of the sink as soon as possible, I really do not like to get up to dishes in the sink in the morning, however if they sit there for an hour or 2 i'm ok with it.

I got kids so I'm constantly cleaning. It all comes down to what needs the most attention at the time. My toddler is just potty trained so the bathroom gets cleaned almost daily - that is toilet and sink. Living room and kitchen floors get swiffered at least once a day and sometimes twice and then get washed as needed - spot cleaned anyway. We moved into this house in March and I have yet to vaccum the one bedroom (the baby's room) or the basement that has carpet (which we don't have furniture in yet so don't really use.) I have yet to mop the wood floors in the other two bedrooms. Husband has his "own" bathroom downstairs - I may clean it once a month - it's his mess and only clean it when I'm really in the cleaning mood.

Love my swiffer wet jet but hate my shark stem mop. I'd skip getting the regular swiffer and just get one of those dry micro fiber type mops. Works much better and you don't have to buy the cloths all the time. I do love my swiffer duster.... it is great for dusting tv's and electronics plus reaches the fans.

We have a weekly schedule. As soon as we get home on Friday we begin cleaning. I clean the kitchen (except the floor- I hate to mop!), wash and fold the clothes. My hubby cleans the bathroom (tub, toilet, mirrors, trash, restock q-tips/cotton balls etc), mops the bathroom & kitchen floor and vacuums. We usually get takeout or cook something quick that night since we spend a lot of time cleaning. Then we relax the rest of the weekend. We vacuum as needed as well.

Its funny, throughout college I was always the neater person who always cleaned. But my hubby has me beat. I've noticed that he would come home and ask me if I had vacuumed. And even if I said yes, he would break out the vacuum cleaner and redo the house. I have not idea why, I move chairs and rugs when I vacuum....but he'll redo it anyway. Solution? I don't vacuum anymore, I just let him do it. Not that I'm complaining. I just thought it was strange.... My mom is jealous.

I vacuum at least every 2nd day, some times do it every day, all depends, love my dyson!! Doing the floors, I get down on hands and knees and clean! Even in Victoria, when my house had al hardwood and tile (not a huge house) I still cleaned on my hands/knees! I could tel the difference if I did it on my hands/knees vice the mop I had!! I like to be clean.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Well, I haven't exactly voted yet, but right now it isn't fair to because my whole house looks cluttered as I'm in the middle of moving. And before that...I cleaned when I wanted to...LOL. Living alone, I didn't care too much about some things. My kitchen is awful to stand and wash dishes in, so most times I'd do them every 2nd day or so. Laundry, about once a week or so, and sheets, when they looked dirty!! towels..just me living here...so not as often as I should. I don't have carpet, so swept most days, not everyday and washed floors more in the winter months, less in summer, unless there was too much spillage in the kitchen.

In my new home there is carpet every except dining and kitchen, so I suspect I'll vacuum once a week or so...depending if it looks dirty or not. And the same again with washing floors, although..it has been established that Americans don't remove their shoes...so I might have to do that more often, until I can subtly "train" guests.. probably do dishes everyday, as I won't mind at all in Tim's kitchen. There is more counter and cupboard space and a double sink!! Whooo hooo I can't wait! I'm one of those strange ones that like to wash, and I let things air dry. Towels and sheets, probably more often than what I've done around here, as well as dusting.

Now..personally, I like a "lived in" look to a home. One that's tidy, but says "We're glad you're here, make your self comfortable." I've been in some homes that look so clean everything sparkles, and I'm afraid to move for fear of getting anything dirty, and have also been in some that were so filthy, I was afraid to move for fear that something would dirty me!!

i honestly have to vacuum at least 4 times a week sometimes more, noone else seems to notice that i do it, like they think all the ####### they drop on the floor just disapears all on its own.

kitchen floors i sweep at least 3 times a week but mopping i just do when i get annoyed that i keep slipping or sticking to whatever has been dropped.

the bathroom i clean twice a week, apparently boys dont know how to pee in the toilet cant stand when i go in and the floor is wet.

dishes and picking up gets done everyday.

i used to be pretty messy and not care when i was back in canada, i dont know if it was just cause it was only my mess i had to live with and noone else had to see it but i clean way more now, i cant stand things being messy,

I also puffy heart my swiffer duster!

I like the swiffer, the duster and the swiffer wet cloths. I did have a swiffer wetjet, but threw it away, just didn't like it.

I have my floormate as well, but it's really for larger hard floor areas, I can't be bothered even getting it out for 2 small rooms.

I clean the bathrooms and dust once a week, Vacuum twice a week, and sweepand mop daily. Bed sheets get done at least once a week...sometimes twice. Towels go into the laundry every other day. I also do spring and fall cleaning where I wash all the walls and windows. Growing up my mom cleaned the bathrooms and did laundry every day, swept at least 3 times a day and mopped every other day. That on top of raising 4 kids and working full time. To this day I still don't know where she ever found the energy!
