Okay so today I told my husband I was going out to buy some more floor cleaner and he was all confused and said: "Didn't you just clean the floors last weekend?"

Ummm yes... if you haven't noticed in the past couple of years we have lived together I tend to clean on a weekly basis.

This started a friendly debate on how often we should clean.

He said that you should only really mop twice a month and vacuum once a week. He agrees with me on the bathrooms being cleaned once a week. But he says that I clean too much and that I am the only person he knows who does this.

I vacuum twice a week.

I clean the bathroom once a week and I do a quick midweek clean in there as well... its the bathroom and I share it with dudes.

I sweep almost daily and clean the kitchen floors once a week.

He told me that this is because I am OCD and that what I am doing is strange...

So I decided to come to the good old folks at VJ to see just how strange I am. :P

I clean when I feel like it.

And I currently don't have a vacuum where I live, so I can't vacuum.

I usually pick up after myself daily, but I don't clean with cleaners and such very often... since I don't have any.

The only cleaner I have is for the toilet bowl.

I do dishes every other day on my days off.

Ohh, good poll, I like it!

I vacuum once a week.

I clean the bathroom once a week.

And I only mop the kitchen, when my feet are starting to get stuck to the floor. But I vaccum it once a week, with the rest of the apartment.

Another question though - how often do you change the sheets and towels?

OK who replied that they only clean the bathroom when it starts to smell funny, EW

I am a bit OCD myself, if I used the bathroom alone I wouldn't need to clean so much but men are more messy, so I give it a good scrub once a week and a wipe down with antibacterial wipes a few more times per week. I can't stand grunge/gross bathrooms it makes me sick.

I windex my glass tables/mirrors about 1-2 times per week, I don't like dust or smears on there. Vaccuming is more relaxed, since we have no pets it doesn't get too bad but at least once per week.

Oh and the above poster asked about sheets/towels - sheets once a week, towels twice a week

I change the towels everytime I do laundry, so usually every 1.5 weeks.

I only wash my sheets like twice a year though, I shower before I go to bed, and the washing machines here aren't big enough. And without a car, I can't get to a laundromat easily.

Vacuum 2x/week (only because we have pets) and because we have a small rug to vacuum, the rest of the house is tile.

Sweep floors - daily. Mop - maybe 1x/month. . . . . I know I know

Bathrooms - wipe clean 1x/week, big clean with scrubbers etc 1x/month

Bed Sheet change - kinda happens whenever I get around to it.

Towel change - every other day

Interesting poll. Kitchen floor gets mopped occasionally - when it looks like it needs it - but it gets swept every day and any spills are cleaned up right away. It is hardwood. I vacuum with the WindTunnel once a week but use the carpet sweeper in between. The bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned at least once a week - but Joe is messy so sometimes it is more often. Sheets and towels get replaced once a week as well. Cat litter boxes are scooped twice daily. The dishwasher is run when it is full - usually every 2 or 3 days - although pots and pans and stuff in the sink get washed daily. Dusting is once a week, although it could probably use more. Laundry is once a week - usually on Monday.

What chore do you hate the most? For me, it is Vacuuming! I loathe, hate and despise our vacuum. It weighs a ton, is such a monster that it doesn't fit in and around or underneath the furniture which means that every piece of furniture needs to be moved away and then moved back, and the beater bar doesn't get into edges or corners so it means taking the hose- which is too short, putting the attachments on it and then going on hands and knees along the edges and corners of the room and around the furniture to get to all the surfaces. The machine is loud and it has broken down and needed expensive repairs twice. When I first started to have my frozen shoulder I was not able to vacuum at all because this monster requires 2 hands - and it does have a self-propel feature. Did I mention that I really hate vacuuming?

The chore I despise most is dusting - that's the one I do the least (probably only twice a month or so). It makes me sneeze and there are so many photos, nick nacks to dust, it's just a pain. I like vaccuming the best :)

Hehehe, you're welcome at our home anytime! You come and vacuum for me and I'll dust for you.
