Visa Attorny

Hey :star:

Me and my soon-to-be-husband are wondering if hireing an attorny helps?

Sounds like most RFEs are caused by people making mistakes at filling out the papers/getting the right papers (because they have never done it before).

Does having an attorny expedite the process ? ( since it is more "official" than if somebody just filles out the papers and does not know exactly what he/she is doing)?

Does having an attorny better the chances of getting the visa?

Understanding and filling out the forms properly along with supplying the proper evidence/information is what is most important. If your case/situation is simple and straightforward you ought to be able to do it yourself. Especially if you follow the guides, example forms, and advice here on VJ.

If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, you have found the right place. If you aren't sure, spend a little money for a consultation with an experienced, qualified immigration attorney. After that meeting, make the best decision for yourselves.

An attorney correctly completing and mailing the forms will not make any difference. The key is to be accurate and thorough.

Hiring an attorney will delay your case due to the nature of the USPS. You will have to send all information to the attorney, and they will send it to USCIS.

I hired an attorney and it delayed my case for 3 months and cost me $1800. It's up to you, but that's what happened to me.

Hiring an attorney does not expedite your case, make it more official or easier to approve. It also does not give you a better chance of getting a visa.

If your petition is put together properly with the necessary documentation and evidence, you should not have any problems doing it yourself.

Lawyers can be beneficial for complicated cases but they do not ensure success.

Good luck.

I agree; don't be deluded into thinking the attorney works for you.

Their primary client is self-interest.

I had one who was a major F-up and the one that came in as a

replacement took 5 months to finish the case (divorce) but the

reason that she was better than the other one was that it took her

ONE session with my ex & her attorney to come to AGREEMENT

on the final divorce. The previous attorney was always saying

things like "I don't know what her attorney will do or say so I

can't promise (read: 'do' ) anything."

The only support I'll be getting for my K-1 application is VJ.
