I am a U.S. Citicen and My fiance is a philipine citicen who is currently living and working in canada on a work visa. We want to marry and move her to the states. Although we have been in a relationship for several years we didnt start collectiing proof of our relationship until recently. It is no problem for me to go to canada and legaly marry her there. but Im not sure if that is the best way to proceed. Some people have told me it is easier to do a fiance visa instead but we would rather not wait for several more years while we collect "evidance of the relationship" . Can anyone offer any insite on this? is it any more difficult to just marry first???

I suggest you read the GUIDES here on VJ.

To apply for a K1 you only have to prove you met once in person in the last 2 years. No need evidence of relationship until the embassy interview.

Best a cheapest way is to marry and file for a CR-1 immkigrant visa. K1 is a nonimmigrant visa and the applicant has to go thru the expense and HASSELS of adjusting status when they get to the US.

K1 is faster and more expensive but it's only really faster because you don't have to arrange to marry before you begin the process. CR1 requires you wait to marry before starting the process so from today forward, it's slower but easier, simpler, less expensive and she arrives work authorized.

Please study the guides. K3 is virtually obsolete. It saves no time, cost more and the foreign national arrives without work authorization.
