What name to use on AOS paperwork???

I am from Canada on a K-1 visa. My husband and I just got married and we want to start our AOS paperwork, but do not know which name to use on the paperwork? Should we use my maiden name (on my k1 visa) or my married name (as I will be taking on his last name)?

Please help!!!

Use the last name that you want to be known as.... I took my husbands name so all my forms were filed with my married name....

Married name! (you can note on the cover letter that you changed your name when you got married, and then put what your maiden name was on the K1 so there is no confusion).

Thanks. Is this the same for Advance Parole, even though my maiden name is on my passport?

You use the name that is on your certified marriage certificate. When it asks you for other names used, put your maiden name there.

You will be including copies of your visa, passport, and I-94, so they will already know who you are. It's the marriage certificate that proves you got married, and it is that certificate you use to get a SS card with your married name on it, if different than you maiden name.

In Florida it is actually these immigration documents that begin the process of the name change. The state will want to see something from USCIS with your married name ( EAD / green card/ NOA for AOS ) for drivers license or state ID. We also found it impossible to get a SS card until we had the EAD with the married name. This doesn't exactly follow their rules but they simply would not do it until they had the card.

Lucero is Colombian and used the traditional 4 name. She never really liked her first name so she used her middle name as her first name. Then she used her Mom's family name with my last name. There was no problem at all. We filled the forms with that name.

In Florida the marriage certificate does not have your married name. It is more or less useless for identification.

sjoefl01 is correct! Just fill-in what ever last name you want to use.
