Hello,

I haven't filed yet. I heard from people it takes more than a year to get the interview, but then that sounds too long. I believe if you file from California you would send it to Phoenix. What's a general timeframe I'm looking at? thanks for your help. Sorry if this is a question that's been asked many times before.

To give you an example of some time frames check this link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...0&start=180 It is for people who filed their citizenship applications in May this year. As you can see there are interview dates ranging from July to September.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

USCIS is moving a lot faster now; it however depends on which category you are filing under.

I filed under being a LPR for 5 years in California through the phoenix lockbox. I filed towards the end of April and my interview was on the 16th of July. At the interview the IO asked me if I wanted my oath ceremony in a month or a year. He then scheduled me for August 10, tomorrow, because I wanted the earliest date possible. I went through the Fresno office, just to let you know. I thought it was gonna take about 6 months or more to get my citizenship, but it took about 3.5 months instead. Very fast. :star:

Not true, mine was 6 months exactly , live in Cali, filed in Cali, became a citizen in Cali. One thing I will recommend is using the 90 day grace period they give but MAKE SURE you qualify, and it is 90 DAYS !!!! not 3 months!!!, make sure you count those days right and there are other requirements, make sure you qualify before submitting!!. Another thing, make sure you don't plan any trips for those 6 or so months you will be in the process, travelling while you are waiting for your interview letter is the worst!!!!!

My application stretched 124 days between receipt of application and oath ceremony, a few days over 4 months.

My DO is Los Angeles and my case is typical of that DO. Other DOs are normally much faster, like San Diego, I believe.

DO: LOS ANGELES

04/24/09 - mailed N400

04/27/09 - N400 received

04/30/09 - NOA1 date

05/04/09 - NOA1 received

05/04/09 - check cashed

05/05/09 - touched

05/13/09 - walk-in biometrics

05/22/09 - biometrics schedule

06/02/09 - interview notice date

06/08/09 - received interview notice

07/30/09 - interview - PASSED :P

08/28/09 - Oath Ceremony

08/29/09 - Passport application
