Hello,

I am just wondering, when they do their check of applicants, do they pull information such as how much income you made a previous year, and then check to verify you included that place of work on your application? How critical is it that these things match or do they not care about it. Also, if you reported or not reported the income in your tax returns. thanks.

I believe they are only doing security checks to ensure you have not committed any crimes that make you ineligible for citizenship. If you have unreported tax from income, however, you should be worried about the IRS. Regardless, you do need to include all of the correct information on the application. Misrepresenting the truth -whether it is about employment or name or time out of the country - or whatever, can come back to bite you at any time.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Be truthful about what you include in your immigration application

Would think the USCIS should just be happy to see that joint IRS label they send to you after you have filed you first joint income tax return with the IRS, but they wanted to see full returns with W-2's and 1099's from us. I really don't know if the USCIS reports you to the IRS, but not good to fool with the IRS either, they really can come back to bite you and bite you hard. If you owe a lot of money, they want it, no exceptions, filing bankrupcy is not exception, you owe that money and they want it.

You won't have problems if you are honest with either agency.
