Hey - that's great news. You might also want to assume that the casefile was sent electronically (and not via DHL ) via that big SAFEFILE system. SAFEFILE is normally used for I-130 petitions, but some of the I-129F peitions have been sent over ( solely ) this way, for the past 2 months. (maybe 3 months ? )

I had asked the DOS and they said it was being mailed and they were waiting for the physical file. Why would they say this if it was sent electronically? Maybe an error? I did not know of any K-1 petitions being sent that way.

Because all the files are sent both ways, electronically followed by the physical file.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Now this is confusing. So they are all sent by DHL or are I-130 files (and some K-1s as Darnell said) sent electronically by "SAFEFILE" instead? I get the email sending. They said to me they got the email and nothing would be done until the physical file arrived.

NVC electronic processing , for the I-130, is covered at

http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/nv..._petitions.html

http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4410.html

The I-129f is mentioned sideways, but there's been FAST movement on K-1's this summer (NOT ALL, but some ).

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

So, mostly, that is covering the NVC processing stage (gather up I-864 and DS_230, pay 2 fees electronically, file a DS-3032 ) but NVC bundles the casefile and sends it electronically to GUZ - GUZ doesn't wait on a physical casefile to proceed with casefile processing. I have been told that physical casefiles ( on the I-130 ) are not sent via DHL anymore, by an NVC human back in June, and are solely sent out via SAFEFILE.

The I-129F SEEMS to be sent out via CASEFILE as well - That NVC human had checked for me on K-1's during the same phone call - but ...

I'll ask any of you to pick up the phone, call NVC, and re-confirm - as it's been 3 months since I made the phone call.

DOS won't know about SAFEFILE. NVC knows about SAFEFILE - but... you've got some speed, yes?

I-129F NOA1 : 2009-04-16 | Packet 3 Received : 2009-08-29

That's 4 months and 2 weeks. NOT THE NORM, as compared to last year - you are SO UNDER THE CURVE it's not funny.

I have to assume 2 things:

CSC Processing, and SAFEFILE transmission.

But - does it matter now? She's got the P3 already - time to rock n rock on the rest of the stuff in China, for China.

GOOD LUCK !

My goodness the speed! The new regime must have put a big boot in the behind of this process and weeded out the GUZZY GOOFS. I will be in China (hopefully) for the entire month of October for the interview. I had planned this trip for January/February!

Received this after I sent an email inquiry:

Thank you for your inquiry. We receive thousands of email inquiries each month and may not be able to respond to your specific inquiry right away. However, we have developed answers to the five most frequently asked questions we receive for this automatic response. A longer list of 50 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) is available on our website http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/iv_faqs.htm.

If your question can be answered by the list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), our office will consider that your question has been satisfactorily answered. If the FAQ list does not answer your question, please be patient for a specific response, generally within 5 to 7 business days.

PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW UP BEFORE THEN, AS REPEATED EMAILS PUSH BACK YOUR INQUIRY DATE AND CREATE A DELAY IN OUR RESPONSE TIME TO YOUR CASE.

If you have not had an email response from us after 7 business days, please go to our website (http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzhou/iv/email.html) and resubmit your request.

We appreciate your cooperation so we can serve you better.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou

____________________________________________________________________

I received a letter from NVC stating that my case has been sent to the Consulate. When will my interview appointment be?

NVC sends this letter when the case is transferred electronically to Guangzhou. The interview cannot take place, however, until the physical file arrives at post. Due to unavoidable delays in getting files through Chinese customs, it takes about 3 months for them to arrive at the Consulate after being shipped by NVC. Once the Consulate receives the physical file, it will send a letter to the applicant with information about how to proceed with their application. Once all necessary documents have been submitted; all security checks have been completed; and (for numerically limited visa classes) the visa is available; the Consulate will schedule the interview and notify the applicant. Interviews are typically scheduled 3-6 weeks in advance.

What should my spouse/fianc¨¦(e) bring to the interview?

The Packet 3 instructions that are mailed to applicants (also available at http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/fo...nd_packets.htm) have detailed information about what to bring to an interview. Please note that beyond the required documents listed on this form (such as birth certificates, police records, and medical exams), there is no ¡°checklist¡± of documents that officers use to determine whether to approve a case. Applicants typically bring with them evidence of their relationship¡ªsuch as pictures, e-mail correspondence, and phone records¡ªalong with several years of tax records or other documents demonstrating the petitioner¡¯s financial situation. While officers typically won¡¯t need to review everything an applicant brings to the interview, applicants are advised to err on the side of bringing too much information, rather than too little.

I need to change my appointment date. What should I do?

You may request to change or postpone your interview date by contacting the Consulate either by mail, fax, or email. Be sure to include your name, case number, and your updated mailing address in Chinese characters. Also include a contact phone number where you can be reached.

Your new interview date will be set according to the Consulate¡¯s interview schedule. Please note that in periods of high demand, this may up to several months. The Consulate will send you a new appointment package as soon as your next interview date has been set.

My flight to the U.S. leaves the day after the interview. How quickly can I get my visa?

The Consulate strongly encourages you not to buy your tickets or make travel plans until after your visa has been approved. The Consulate cannot guarantee that your visa will be approved at the original interview and will not take responsibility for the consequences of your decision to buy a non-refundable plane ticket before your interview takes place. Once your visa has been approved, you will make arrangements with China Post to either pick up or have your passport mailed to you (the latter service is currently only available if you live in Guangdong Province, although we hope that it will be expanded throughout the country at some point in the future). Passports are typically available for pick-up after three business days.

I sent some documents to the Immigrant Visa Unit; have you received them yet?

Mail and faxes are processed in the order received by the Consulate. Due to the large volume of inquiries we receive daily, replies cannot be instantaneous. To ensure efficient processing of your inquiry, please be sure to include your name and mailing address in Chinese characters, along with your contact phone number.

Please note that documents used to overcome a refusal given at the visa interview cannot be submitted to the Consulate by fax unless a consular officer has specifically requested that you do so. Overcome documents mailed to the Consulate are processed in the order received; if you have not heard from the Consulate.

Are you calling DOS to check for status?

DOS will tell you what the status is.

More words, added for clarity -

GUZ will not be able to reply to your 'request for status' emails. Sorry

Stick with Calling DOS.

One thing that I've learned is to ask for the current status, and the prior 3 status changes, along with date/time stamp of these changes. Gives a much better picture of what's going on, removes all guesswork.

What was the address used for the P3 return? IV Unit, right? Tian Ye or Shamian Island Address?

Hopefully, yer not one of those poor folk who's EMS stuff got held by the concierge at the White Swan Hotel cause he was just too tired to care.

Good Luck !!!

Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for your email. We have just received and processed Ms. XXXXXXXX's packet 3 forms last week. We will schedule a visa interview for Ms. XXXXXXXX in a few months and send an appointment packet to inform her as soon as possible. Please wait for our further notice with patience.

On Friday DOS said they had not even received the P3 yet. So I guess the email was not a waste of time afterall. My consultant said to expect an interview date shortly. :star:

Very Cool. Are you asking DOS about those 'last 3 status changes' and the date/time stamps?

You'll learn some bizarre stuff :D

My apologies for declaring your email a waste of time :o

Yes, about asking. But I've been so inquisitive in the past that nothing new was revealed. I just want this part to be over so we can be together in China and the USA.
