Has Guangzhou Consulate Receive My Petition From NVC?

On August 6 the NVC told me my petition had been electronically sent to GUZ.

Does that mean it is officially at the Consulate?

Another NVC person said the Consulate does nothing until the physical file is received. So I am confused.

Here at VJ they have the timeline entry for Consulate received. Is there a way to determine the exact date of GUZ reception?

PS. I did search around VJ before asking this question but VJ links are welcome to if this has already been answered.

Thanks!

I emailed GUZ, they didn't give me a straight answer, but said they would open the files transferred electronically according the transfer time. They said they would open the files in several weeks.

What is confusing is that looking at the timelines at VJ, they are opened very quickly. So I am hoping the several weeks is just an official answer, not the actual timeline.

If your NVC case number is GUZ 200#######, then the consulate needs the hard copy.

It was sent electronically but they will not schedule an interview until it is received.

Be careful and understanding when asking the DOS or NVC questions.

If the case was a true 'electronic', that is good. But the NVC case number can not have the 'GUZ' form.

Maybe K-1 is different from your CR1? My NVC number is GUZ2009..... I thought all the K-1 numbers started with GUZ (the consulate abbrev). That is stated all over VJ. I don't need to ask NVC any more questions and the people there are especially nice and helpful. What is with "be careful and understanding"? Much better than USCIS. Did you have a problem with NVC?

Do you have links or reference to your reply?

Never mind, I just read it in the Chinese Customs thread (kinda makes this thread superfluous). The new NVC case number for some is GZO...

That was it. I couldn't remember. The GZO... number means its ALL electronic. The GUZ... number means the paper must arrive. My CR1 was GUZ... Careful and understanding because if you ask 'does GUZ have it' they may think yes because yes they have electronic loaded; Consulate can respond to questions on the case. If you ask 'does GUZ have the hardcopy' it is a clearer question.

The internal lingo for DOS is when the status shows as "loaded" they only have the electronic file, but status of "open" indicates they have the paper file. If you ask that way, you'll know the meaning of their answer.

QUESTION REMAINS:

Is there a way to determine the exact date of GUZ reception?

Telephone #, email, DHL tracking, etc.? Details please.

NVC said it was sent electronically but DHL has no packages sent to GUZ, but a few sent to HK.

The only real option is to call DOS everyday and ask if they show the case as being received and 'opened' as pushbrk suggested. I found that there really is no effective way to track the packages as it is all just guess work when you do - when I was waiting for GUZ to physically receive my file I thought that I knew without a doubt which package contained my file but it turned out that it was in entirely different package all together.

Just in case you don't have the DOS number it is: 202-663-1225 then press 1 and then 0 which will get you to a 'live' person.

If you are reasonably sure of the DHL package #; I was because there were no other GUZ shipments +/- a week of the NVC out day, then you can watch that shipment. BUT you will only know the day it is signed for, valueless. It will still sit until the workload allows them to open it. When GUZ opens it DOS will know.

So I called DOS twice a day after the stamp signature. Senseless!! After all, China sleeps during DOS working hours - so how can it change!! (though I have heard of changes from morning to evening--go figure!!!)

BUT . . . . I did like thinking I could know something soon!!! Then after each call :crying:

Keep tracking and investigating. When it's all over you wonder what to do with all the spare time.

Back when our file was getting to GUZ I became an expert on tracking DHL packages. Nevertheless, while I was expecting to wait three more weeks for our package to be delivered, my wife showed me the P3 on the webcam. You'll never know in advance which package contains your file. You can only guess. NVC operators will tell you when they sent your case file but all they really know is when a database was updated indicating it was eligible to be forwarded. They have no information about when the mail room actually gave it to DHL.

You are absolutely correct and I had the same experience. I thought for sure that I knew which package that my K-1 petition was mailed out in because it was the only package that was mailed out to GUZ within a +-4 day window within the date that NVC provided me as having been mailed out. As it turned out the package that I was sure contained my petition was still in clearance delay 3 weeks after I received my wife's interview date from DOS - so still to this day, I have no idea which package contained my petition. It turned out to take 2.5 months from NVC Out until GUZ opened our case and scheduled an interview date. Tracking packages is nothing more than a ####### shoot.

Same here. The one I thought for sure had my petition is still in delay and my girl called today that she got the P3!

Hey - that's great news. You might also want to assume that the casefile was sent electronically (and not via DHL ) via that big SAFEFILE system. SAFEFILE is normally used for I-130 petitions, but some of the I-129F peitions have been sent over ( solely ) this way, for the past 2 months. (maybe 3 months ? )

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I had asked the DOS and they said it was being mailed and they were waiting for the physical file. Why would they say this if it was sent electronically? Maybe an error? I did not know of any K-1 petitions being sent that way.
