ok, whatever, I'm not going to argue with you...you want to make a few light-hearted remarks into a full-blown racial attack... but I remember a German on here starting three of the funniest threads on German characteristics...and NO ONE yelled...RACIST!

Yeah, but I gotta give the guy credit - he's a flaming, America-hating liberal, but at least he did something about it and moved to France.

What has he actually said that gives rise to that conclusion? Or is this more baseless (hate-filled) postulating on your part?

"My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."

"America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive."

So on the basis of two quotes you can assume the guys entire political belief system? Doesn't seem very fair to me. In any case neither of those quotes say anything necessarily 'liberal' - only that he doesn't like America. He has lived there for many years, so I suppose he has an opinion.

Viva MExico - would you consider it "good natured ribbing" if we started making mexican jokes? You know...the ones about the illegal immigrants...I'm sure I can find some that you would NOT find good natured.

Wow, since when did laughing at jokes about surrendering and eating crepes compare to joking about illegal immigrants??? And I admittedly find many jokes about mexican (and american) culture funny.

I am not yelling anything. But just because ONE German here on VJ did that...doesn't make it right...

I'm also not arguing...just asking people to think before they laugh at or tell that off color joke.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Viva Mexico....I just can't understand why if you are soo all about Mexica..and you like the country and the culture...why you would tell or laugh at Mexican jokes.

Hey guess what...not ALL French eat crepes...not ALL French wear berets...just like not all MExicans are illegal immigrants. You generalizing about the French is like what I just did by generalizing about Mexicans...

Because it's FUNNY. That's why I laugh at jokes. I think it's important to be able to laugh at yourself, rather than going through life angry. I could laugh about all mexicans eating tacos and wearing sombreros. It's not mean-spirited...it's an OBVIOUS oversimplification for the purposes of comedy. I've been to France. I like it. I like crepes. I even like berets.
