oh yes, Johnny Depp....he has left America and complained about it...yet has no problem pocketing all the AMerican money while he makes commerical films for DISNEY!

I think I preferred JD when he was doing smaller movies. He had a reputation a few years ago for rejecting 90% of the scripts that were sent to him.

i'm certain that yabasta and fishdude, being from not so great britain, have never told a french joke in their entire life.

This plays into the same ignorance already displayed. The idea that because i am English i should be a bigot is in itself rather bigoted and ignorant.

Sorry, I found this humorous... :P

The Complete Military History of France

Gallic Wars - Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian. [Or at ths time in history, a Roman -ed.]

Hundred Years War- Mostly lost, saved at last by female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman." Sainted.

Italian Wars- Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians.

Wars of Religion- France goes 0-5-4 against the Huguenots

Thirty Years War- France is technically not a participant, but manages to get invaded anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other participants started ignoring her.

War of Revolution- Tied. Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as chapeaux.

The Dutch War- Tied

War of the Augsburg League/King William's War/French and Indian War- Lost, but claimed as a tie. Three ties in a row induces deluded Frogophiles the world over to label the period as the height of French military power.

War of the Spanish Succession- Lost. The War also gave the French their first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved every since.

American Revolution- In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare; "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."

French Revolution- Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also French.

The Napoleonic Wars- Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!) due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British footwear designer.

The Franco-Prussian War- Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.

World War I- Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United States [Entering the war late -ed.]. Thousands of French women find out what it's like to not only sleep with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French bloodline.

World War II- Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel Song.

War in Indochina- Lost. French forces plead sickness; take to bed with the Dien Bien Flu

Algerian Rebellion- Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a western army by a Non-Turkic Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule of Muslim Warfare; "We can always beat the French." This rule is identical to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch, Spanish, Vietnamese and Esquimaux.

War on Terrorism- France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Attempts to surrender to Vietnamese ambassador fail after he takes refuge in a McDonald's.

The question for any country silly enough to count on the French should not be "Can we count on the French?", but rather "How long until France collapses?"

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion. All you do is leave behind a lot of noisy baggage."

Or, better still, the quote from last week's Wall Street Journal: "They're there when they need you."

As for Johnny Depp i think he has said that he has kids now and so he makes a movie or two for them. Disliking aspects of American and living elsewhere has nothing to do with work you get paid for. People in France and the rest of the world fund Disney it is not just "American money". The world is a big place not just one piece of land and one group of people. Some people (in this thread particularly) don`t seem to like that. What a shame for them.

I love France and the French.

People say the french hate the Americans. Not true.

French dislike Americans that go over there with our typical nationalistic attitude...I've seen it EVERY time I've been over there...

I would think of all places this forum would have a more well rounded outlook on it...and less racist...I mean we all have foreign spouses...hello...

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

exactly! And I'd also say that some nationalities are just better at taking a ribbing than others, in fact some create more jokes about themselves than do anyone else...

Viva MExico - would you consider it "good natured ribbing" if we started making mexican jokes? You know...the ones about the illegal immigrants...I'm sure I can find some that you would NOT find good natured.

Yeah, but I gotta give the guy credit - he's a flaming, America-hating liberal, but at least he did something about it and moved to France.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with that. Have you ever really thought about some of those jokes?? YTou may THINK they don't bother people...and just because they make them up...doesn't mean they are OK with it. I went to HS in a school with almost no black people at all. One of my good friends was an African American. He was the one sitting in the lunch room making black jokes...really horrid ones...and everyone laughed...and he laughed...and he make up funny ones...and we all laughed. Later I asked him why he was so down with making jokes about his own race. He said he did it to fit in...Race was already such an issue for him..he didn't want to stand out so he "fit in" by bashing his own race...that's just horrible to me.

I vowed from that day on...if I heard racist jokes...I would always stand up and say something. If everyone just hears them and thinks...that's terrible...but laughs anyway...then stereotypes and racism is just perpetuated...

Just think before you crack that racist joke...or even laugh at one. It takes more courage to say "I don't agree with that" than to just laugh like everyone else..

just my two cents.

oh and btw...don't see any French people in here laughing at or cracking these jokes...
