Sarah's tax returns put her in that class ordinary Americans consider rich.

She's just defending her own class interests. You know, typical Republican rich sentiment: What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine or will be mine soon.

sounds more like the democratic mantra

Seems to me that millions of Americans who have lost their home to banks (that the government makes sure stay rich, unlike those who lose their homes) see the mantra rather as I wrote it. Banks wrote deceptive loans and then grabbed the underlying asset essentially for free. What's yours is now mine, says the bank. Millions of Americans pay good money in insurance premiums, not having much choice of who their insurer is, since the employer often gives them a single option, and then finds that the money they pay doesn't deliver the health care they thought you were buying. What's yours is now mine, since the insurance company. Thanks for the money. Too bad you didn't have a choice but to buy from only me, and that I stack the deck so I win, you lose.

Typical rich Republican sentiment: I'm going to stack the game so what is mine is mine and what is yours will be mine soon.

so where is my own personal bank, since i'm a republican?

Charles, I don't think I said all Republicans are rich. I do assert that a class of rich Republicans are very, very good at defending their class interests, while doing their best to make it look like something else.

Agreed. Money and power have always gone hand in hand. Powerful interests have always gotten their way by buying access. The revolving door between K Street lobbyists and policymakers in government is sickening, and has widely infected both major parties.

There are good and honest members of both parties, both elected and un-elected, who put the nation's needs first and are striving for good public policy.

There are also mean-spirited and corrupt party hacks who trade influence for money and strive only for power to enrich themselves.

I do agree with BigDog that the heavily moneyed folks who have always been a bastion of the Republican party have a way of masquerading their interests as though they are in line with the common-man, whereas in fact more often than not the exact opposite is the case.

I love how the rich Socialists have the interest of the common person in mind always. Also love how the moneyed interests that have health care money have had the money spigot on in the last elections and the upcoming one toward the Socialists and Reid has been the number one Hoover. Why all the money now flowing toward the Socialists now? Anyone?

It's interesting that when Democrats/Liberals disagree with someone they always make it personal. They cant stand on their own flawed policy so you have to attack the opposition personally.

that does go both ways

;)
