Palin: Obama would make Trig face "death panel"

Sarah Palin might not be the governor of Alaska anymore, but she's still weighing in on politics. Friday afternoon, she took to her Facebook page to warn of the dangers of Democratic healthcare plans.

"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care," Palin wrote.

This is, of course, just one more in a long list of myths that are floating around among reform opponents. Here's Palin's full post:

As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we're saying not just no, but hell no!

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Health care by definition involves life and death decisions. Human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion.

Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president's health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the White House chief of staff, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. I commend her for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.

We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate. Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens. If we go down this path, there will be no turning back. Ronald Reagan once wrote, "Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth." Let's stop and think and make our voices heard before it's too late.

In Sarah's defense, she truly doesn't comprehend what health care reform actually means, what is actually being considered and debated nor would she have the first clue that life and death decisions are made today by purely profit oriented private insurance bureaucrats rather than by patients and their doctors. She doesn't have the capacity to understand any of this so cut her some slack, will you?

Actually, I think she does have a clue. She's rich enough that she can buy top-notch medical insurance or forego it. She's never going to face some bureaucrat at CIGNA or UHC or one of those companies telling her that she or hers cannot get life-saving medical treatment because they don't want to pay for it. Her clue tells her that she should be threatened at the idea that ordinary Americans should have a similar sense of security. I don't think its a well-grounded clue, but its what I expect from Sarah.

Seems to me that millions of Americans who have lost their home to banks (that the government makes sure stay rich, unlike those who lose their homes) see the mantra rather as I wrote it. Banks wrote deceptive loans and then grabbed the underlying asset essentially for free. What's yours is now mine, says the bank. Millions of Americans pay good money in insurance premiums, not having much choice of who their insurer is, since the employer often gives them a single option, and then finds that the money they pay doesn't deliver the health care they thought you were buying. What's yours is now mine, since the insurance company. Thanks for the money. Too bad you didn't have a choice but to buy from only me, and that I stack the deck so I win, you lose.
