I was reading in "Embassy Info" area that spouse is allowed to attend Visa interview. Does this mean I can follow her around quietly and hold stuff for her or do spouses have a separate waiting area? I remember when getting my "affidavit of marriage eligibility" from the consulate there was a waiting room and we were called inside a very small window room when my number was called. The consulate asked me to fetch her after he spoke to me first.

I hope I can join her!

Don't know if Embassy change policy, but during my interview on May 2008, I saw a lot of spouses joining their wives in the same waiting area. They were not allowed to go inside the interview room though.

Spouses are not allowed during pre-screening and interview.

BUT you are allowed to wait with her.

I would suggest that you pop in and make yourself visible to both prescreener and consul by

helping her carry her stuffs to the window and the room.

good luck!!

I think it is allowed. Two of my friends were with their fiances during the interview. They said, the consul end up interviewing the petitioners and the good news is, they both passed.

Previously, you can sit in the waiting room and sometimes sit in on the interview. It is up to the discretion of the CO performing the interview whether you are allowed in or not. The USEM could be applying more strict policies as they are in allowing visa pickups.

Thereis no set policy at USEM. Most of the time the petitioner is allowed in the interview.

Depends on the CO. My friend was allowed in and was questioned more than his wife.

I've NEVER seen anyone complain about attending the interview at USEM.

Seen quite a few that are still kicking themselves in the puwit they didn't tho.

I read in a previous thread ( I think a old thread ) that in some cases the SO being there can make or break a case. I would think being at the interview has to be a positive in the eyes of the CO. I plan on trying to make it there for the interview ... getting time off work again is the hard part .. out of vacation until January but I think they will let me off for something like this for 1 week :D
