hello again,

we called the number that they give you to schedule medical exams for the london embassy part of the k1 deal. we asked the lady on the phone if there was any way to schedule the medical exam and embassy interview on back to back days so my fiance didn't have to fly to london from glasgow on seperate occasions. she said to call them back to schedule the medical exam once we know the interview date.

now my question is, is this possible? on the iv-15k form we need to send to the immigration unit in order to get the interview date, it asks for the medical exam date. i thought we could just write there that we will schedule the medical date once we know the interview date.

is this ok?

You can get an interview without a medical date. Your approval will be "pending the medical results" as those take several days for lab results to come back before they are forwarded to the Embassy.

At London it seems to be that they try to accomodate your travel/wedding dates. So if you don't put down a wedding/travel date, you get a "potluck" date that may be later than you wish. If your wedding isn't until next January, they could wait to assign you an interview in the November timeframe. This isn't a set in stone rule, but it seems to go that way in general. They would look at the applications and 10 are marrying in October and yours says in January. So they give out the earlier dates to the October people to try to accomodate them thinking you are fine with a later interview. If you are a worrier and want to get it over asap, then putting an earlier wedding date could help you get a quicker interview date.

thanks for the info. we are about to send these forms and will now leave the medical exam date blank and write in that we will schedule the medical once we know the interview date. also, thanks so much for that information about how they might give you an earlier interview date if your wedding is sooner. we were going to put a safe date (not too soon so that the date might be before her actual interview) on the form even tho we plan on getting married as soon as she gets here but now we will advance it a bit. were sending the forms out this week and, i dunno, what do you think is a good date to put for the wedding? im thinking october 15th?

Sounds good. Pick a travel date two weeks before that. Just remember the date in case they ask about your wedding plans at the interview. It's not an inquistion, but they might say, "when are you getting married?" They just ask chatty questions but they're based on info they know already, like "what kind of work does your fiance do?" "Does he have any children?" So you can say "We hope to get married on ____."

It doesn't always work out to get your perfect interview date, but maybe you'll get one that works for you. They seem to take a long time to get it scheduled lately. We got an appointment letter 3 weeks after sending in documents. But my fiance requested a late July interview or it would have been scheduled sooner. Some people want to move it up and some want to push it back, but eventually we all get there.

Thanks for asking this question, formakashic. My husband also lives in Glasgow, and will need to travel to London for his medical and interview. He's just been made redundant so money is tight right now. They certainly don't make this process easy! Best wishes to you both.
