On March 22nd our application to adjust status was received. Occasional checking of the USCIS website always said the same thing.....Your application was received on March 22nd and we will let you know.

Today, I checked again and there was a new date - July 7th. The message said that they had received my wife's application on July 7th and they would contact us with a decision. Why the change? Does it mean that our application was received by a service center?

I guess we should be grateful they have it, but what happened between March 22nd and July 7th? We are not in a big sweat about it since my wife has already received her Advance Parole document and her EAD so there is no big rush for the green card, but it still seems a bit strange to me.

Anybody know the answer?

If you haven't been checking the site daily and are not registered for email updates, then it's possible your case was recently transferred to another office (such as California Service Center) and you simply missed the transfer notice because the case status was already changed by the time you checked it.

If your case was transferred, you will most likely receive a paper Transfer Notice in the mail as an official record of the transfer. That is the norm for those transferred to CSC, at any rate. I think you should keep your eye on the mail box!
