The system tells you it could take up to 45 days for the system to update, but you'll very likely get a confirmation at the new address in a matter of a couple of weeks.

If you have a case currently pending with USCIS, you are asked to do both the paper AR-11 (which you would mail in) and the online change of address.

Actually, now you do the online and it asks you if you have cases pending; takes you to a second form and updates. Also, it is recommended that you call within 14 days to double check that it went through. In our case, we have biometrics next week, so that will do.

And do not forget to send in the I-865 for the sponsor to update his/her address

Actually when you do it online they ask you NOT to mail it in.

oh oh :( dont tell me that, i am the u.s citizen and i filed the i-130 and i-129f and he is not in the country, i filed the AR-11 yesterday online for both cases :(

Don't panic. You filed for YOUR change of address following the prompts that say "change od address for a US citizen" I presume? I think you should be fine.
