Every time I look at using coupons it seems like the store brand ends up being as cheap or cheaper than the national brand with the coupon.

I guess the trick is to know where to do the "Double face value" at.

Actually, the best way to save is to use the self-checkout... and cheat.

... You can lose lbs simply by cutting back on milk, breakfast cereals, bread and pasta.

Seriously??? Wow... and I thought I lost and maintained my weight by eating Cherios every morning.

That's what I find as well. We typically don't buy brand name products - our grocery store makes their own brand of just about everything. And then you don't need coupons for meat and produce.

I'd say we save at least $30-$40 a week buy shopping at this certain store rather than the pricier Stop and Shop. Whole Foods, forget about it - we'd spend 3x as much.

I think you save more money by just going and getting what you need for the days meal.

only if you can walk to the store.

If you have a family of 10 yeah great deal, but by the time I would use all that it would be expired.

I find I save the most when I have eaten my meal and then go shopping. SHopping when hungry tends to be a big bill for me :)

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I make a list of what I'm gonna cook that week, write everything down, grab my kids and go to the store. Money saver #1 are the kids because I have to hurry through so there's no time to look around. Money saver #2 is the list of course, which I mostly stick to  . We get the meat from my MIL, I don't buy bread, I bake it myself, we don't drink sodas so we're not spending on that either plus I cook from scratch and mostly enough so we can eat leftovers the day after.

ETA: My MIL bought a cow and two pigs, had them slaughtered and then gave some of the meat to us.

Good!

One of the major problems with soda is it increases the risk for diabetes type 2.

Too bad there's hardly anything for Asian people who relies on imports. Although, Asian foods are cheaper nonetheless.

H-Mart!!

And, they have coupons too :)

http://www.hmart.com/coupon/coupon_event_main.asp

It's mainly Korean, but carries lots of other Asian stuff. We're well stocked on the staples of a Thai cuisine, partly due to HMart.
