BTW... tweaking a model is a normal part of science.

I know. New data means the model must be changed to reflect that. Throw in a purposeful intervention and all bets are off.

Yep. Or skewed so as to make the model unusable anymore. Not cool.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Would have to blow steam up, water would just fall back into the ocean, and for the vapor to rise, would have to warmer than the ambient. So what is going to power these roaming boiling craft? Solar won't work, the clouds that make will block the light. Anyway, if they start to build these things, sounds like a nice job to pilot one.

Not hearing so much about global warming anymore, more like climate change, we just had the coldest July in recorded history. If that huge volcano in Yellowstone pops it's cork, scientists claim it way overdue, we may have another ice age. Had one about 12,000 years ago, that one was caused by a lost civilization that hated hybrid cars and all drove large SUV's.

We are doomed Hal, just enjoy each and everyday while we still can.

Maybe I should add this to my post.

There's more of them now because they're melting/breaking off larger ice masses at higher rates than before. ;)

I like your philosophy on many other issues... just not ones were I believe humans can actually do something to rectify things and/or prevent further damage to our only home.

On a serious note then, if you watch Discovery Science, far more programs on global cooling than global warming, reduced sun spot activity, massive volcanic eruptions blocking the rays of the sun for years, another ice age is due, cyclic rotation of the earth's axis, possibility of being struck by a large meteor and so forth.

Reduced growing seasons, mass starvation, the volcano at Yellowstone is so huge, it can't even be seen on land, was discovered by satellite. Another doomsday show was on massive releases of methane from the earth that may cause a massive fire all over the earth reducing they oxygen levels below what animal life can survive us, we are in that class. Traces of civilization already have been found over 200 feet below the ocean levels, so the oceans are already near peak levels compared to about 10,000 years ago. How much higher can they rise?

I do agree however with our massive waste of fossil fuels, that is a crime to our only home.

The oceans can rise enough to cover a very large portion of land currently inhabited.

Vallejo, California. Jefferson County & New Orleans, Louisiana. Key Biscane, Florida. No big loss.

Oh... Key Biscayne... nice place.

Lucky for the rest of the planet there's more people that want to stop such nonsense.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
