Calling all Yardies:

I really need help and clarification because its causing conflict with my SO's family.

First, I called Dept of State 202 # to see about our case. They couldn't tell me anything. What exactly do I need to ask them?

Secondly, because Im not certain how long it takes to get the medical bs worked out, I suggested that he go and at least make the appointment for the medical in case they send us packet 3, we would be prepared. His mom is telling me that in Mo Bay they give you a one month appointment. She wants me to contact the Kingston folks to see how much time it takes to get an appointment. Doesn't it make more sense to get the medical done asap and in Mo Bay because he is from there? I don't see the sense of travelling all the way to Kingston when Mo Bay does it.

I need answers please......

1) DOS can tell you if the embassy has received your case, processed your DS-230 pt1, or scheduled your interview.

2) You can't have the medical without an appointment letter from the embassy. Good luck in contacting them. People have had mixed results in how quickly they respond to email.

But once you have the appointment date (which, in your case, will probably be mid to late September), you can schedule the medical. You tell them when the appointment is and they give you a medical date. If it's just one person, it may be easier than if your SO is trying to get appointments for multiple people at once.

Hope that helps!

You get asked for the DS-230 pt1 in packet 3. But you REALLY don't want to wait to receive it in the mail because you could be waiting for infinity. Instead, get packet 3 from someone on this board & start working from there.

If you rather get it from the embassy instead of someone on VJ, you could email the embassy your case # (that you get from NVC) and request an electronic version since the mail can be iffy.

Packet 3 will have a checklist of everything to get together for the interview. It'll tell you to complete the DS-230pt1, sign it, & send it to them. Then they'll schedule the interview. While waiting for the interview, you're to gather the other items in the checklist.

As sus said, no need to panic. Deep breaths. :)

Okay cause the thing is I have the DS-230 Pt I and made him sign it already. So Im going to email it to the embassy with my case number and ask them to notify me that they received it.

mstee....relax ur self naw....

AOS = Adjustment of Status will be done from the US after you get married here. So don't even put AOS in your the FRONT of your mind just yet.

Before you send off the original of the DS form...create a scan copy as NatPatBen mentioned that you can email the signed copied to the embassy.

Someone who has recently gone through the K-1...please PM mstee with helpful information and guidance. We want her to have a smooth and stressless visa journey if we can help it.

Ms. Tee calm down. It will be just fine. I have given you info in PM a while ago if I'm not mistaken. 1st things first...stop calling NVC...they no longer have any information on your case. You need to call the Department of State at 202-663-1225 for all updates now.

1. Get the signed DS-230 Part 1 to Kingston as soon as possible. You have three options:

a. Send email to Kingston to request a date to have your man drop it off. (This is the longest option)

b. Send a scanned copy of the signed form to Kingston email address. (Not sure of the timeline for this one being fast because NatPat ran into a few problems with it.)

c. Mail a signed copy to the Kingston Embassy using DHL, FedEx...UPS...or Postal Service. I used DHL and sent it with a cover letter requesting an interview date within a certain month, along with one passport photo of my fiance'. (It took 8 days from the time the form was delivered via DHL to I had my interview date.) I think I had the quickest turnaround after NVC and actual interview looking at the stats page.

2. Make sure you have duplicate copies ready of the following forms: DS-156, DS-156k, DS-157, I-134. You also need to compile all of your supporting documents of an ongoing relationship, and your fianancial information.

3. Make sure that your man has 8 updated passport photos (2 for the medical, 2 for the police certificate and 4 for the interview)

4. Your man needs to get his police certificate, shot records, non-impediment form, birth certificates for him and any children that may be coming with him or after him.

5. After the DOS or Kingston confirm that the DS-230 has been received and processed, you will get your interview date and letter (Packet 4) shortly after.

6. Once you know your interview date, you can schedule the medical. I used Mobay Hope with absolutely no problems. My fiance' was in and out with no problems.

7. Pay the $131 Visa fee at the NCB bank or at the cashier's window at the Embassy (my fiance' paid at the cashier's desk while he was waiting for his number to be called...and had no problems what so ever.)

8. Attend the interview, get your pink slip and go pay DHL for the delivery of his visa and passport...because we won't accept a blue slip at all.
