Hi all,

Wondering if any of you can help in on a question.

I received a "Request for additional evidence (I-485)" where I am required to send "Federal income tax returns and W2s for the most recent tax year or certified Internal Revenue Services (IRS) copies".

I got this request on 5/25/2006 and I did not file my taxes until 6/6/2006. The reason I was holding back was that I wanted to file as "Married filing jointly" to get the maximum return. But my wife did not have an SSN. So I first filed for W7 (application for IRS individual taxpayer identification number) and attached my 1040 with it. Anyway I think it will take a while until I see my returns.

However, my question is, what do you think is sufficient for the "Request for additional evidence (I-485)".

1. Can I just send a copy of my 1040 I had filed along with a copy of W2.

2. Or do I have to certify these copies,

3. Or perhaps wait till I get the returns so that I can apply for return transcripts.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Faisal

You do not need to have your tax return and W2 certified or notorized. Just make a copy of everything you are sending in with your tax return, and include a copy of your W2 and any 1099s you may have.
