If anyone has any suggestions on how to approach this, we'd really appreciate it...

I came to the US on K1 VISA. My husband and I went to our AOS interview on March 20 in Fairfax, VA and were told that I was approved for a conditional 2-year green card.

I handed in my EAD and travel authorizations.

The interviewer did not stamp my passport (and I now realise that I should have asked).

I was given a typed paper that stated that I had been approved and how to go about getting another green card after two years was up.

30 days after my interview, no green card. I phoned the 1-800 line and was told they wouldn't help me for another 30 days.

Called back in another 30 days- Was told they wanted me to call back in anoth 60 days- after I pushed the issue and kept repeating that I was already approved the girl agreed to put in a service request (even though she said she didn't see anything in my file that showed I had been approved). She said Fairfax would call me within 30 days.

30 days later- no phonecall so I called the 1-800 line again. A 2nd service request was put in and I was told to call back in another 30 days if nothing happened.

So we're not at the next 30 days yet but still no phone call.

I have been trying to make an Infopass appointment to get my passport stamped but have been unable to get one so far.

We are meant to be going back to Canada around Sept 1 for a visit but it doesn't look like that is going to be possible. I have no way of proving my status now that I gave up my travel and work documents.

Does anyone know if there is ANY other way to approach this? I could keep putting in service requests for years and never get anywhere. I'd really like to go home to see my family sometime.

Thanks for any advice,

Alison and Mike

First off that really bites. I am waiting for our green card and hope we do not have the same thing happen to us; however, we did get a stamp in our passport.

It is times like this that make our government look horrible and irresponsible.

I hope you have some more patience. I would contact a lawyer for their recommendations and mabye even their assistance.

I would make an INFOPASS appointment with the local office (the one where you did your interview). I would also get your senators and congressman involved. All of them. You never know which one will actually end up being helpful.
