I'll be darned...an inter-office memo that actually makes sense.

I wonder how many actually follow this, now nearly 4-year old, memo. (Have seen RFEs for signatures since then.)

I used them exactly verbatim. Changed names and dates only. No problems.

The same here.

Here is a copy of the memo I sent to USCIS...and I never had any ref....seems to be ok, not saying it is best...just saying it works...some times simple is best...like when doing interviews, short and clear answers best....my opinion...hahaha

Name

Street Address

City, State, Zip

Phone Number

Date:

Dear USCIS,

I’m writing this letter to inform you of my intention to marry (Full Name) within 90 days of her arrival to the USA.

Though we have started our initial planning, we have not set any exact date since we are not sure when she will be getting to the USA.

We both appreciate your help and good efforts to assist us.

Sincerely,

(Full Name)

LOVE of a LIFETIME

If you are filing a K1 then for interview purposes you would use her local office. Not yours. You have to submit to either the Vermont or California Service Center depending on where you live. I'm thinking Minnesota goes to Vermont but I've been wrong before.

Minnesota goes to the California Service Center. That's where I sent mine. The info is also on the I-129F instructions that can be printed from the USCIS website.

I-129F Sent : 2009-03-05

I-129F NOA1 : 2009-03-10

I-129F NOA2 : 2009-06-18

Interview : 2009-12-10 - Denied

----------------------------------

Married : 2009-12-29

I-130 sent : 2011-03-24

I-130 noa1 : 2011-03-30

I-130 noa2 : 2011-07-25

Like us all I want to avoid any RFEs so any suggestions about using the short examples given for the Cover Letter & Intent to Marry Letter?

Has anyone actually used those examples for the I-129F package? I just feel like it isn't very much, but it is very short & straight to the point & maybe that's what the embassy wants. I don't know.

any thoughts?

I'd like to add to your question actually.

I think the format is good, but my fiancée

sent me her letter and it was addressed

as follows:

[she left out her address]

"To the United States Government"

[she left out the date]

(body text of letter)

The letter that I prepared followed the example as follows:

[My address]

USCIS

Vermont Service Center

Attn: I-129F

75 Lower Welden Street

St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

08/10/2009

Dear Sir or Madam:

I, [My name], do hereby state that I am legally ready, willing and able to marry [Her name] and intend to do so within 90 days of her arrival into the US using a nonimmigrant K-1 visa.

So basically her letter was missing her address,

the full address of the service center and the date.

Should I ask her to make a more complete one before I send in the I-129F?

I think it wouldn't hurt.

Also, if she prepares another letter, can she send me a SCANNED copy with her signature on it,

instead of a copy sent by snail mail, as she did with the first one?

:help: :help: :help:

you might want to post a forum so more people address the issue, but I think it depends on who is petitioning. If you are the one petitioning it should be your information: address & yes I would recommend have the service center address & date. If you do have her signature, I believe everything needs to have ORIGINAL signatures, so it would have to be snail mail. double check & if i'm wrong please someone correct me!

Thanks for the reply. She will add the service center and the date.

I think the only requirement for an actual signature is for the I-129F on my part.

I saw a document which I believe made that clear.

After all, she is going to appear in person for the interview and she can sign in person in front of them if they want.

The I-129F requires MY signature, I'm sure of that.

If you are sending a letter of intent that would require her signature.

As I think I understand it now, for the I-129F stage each of us have signed

letters of intent to send to the regional center.

Then when she gets the invitation to the interview, both of us have to

send another letter of intent (signed) addressed to the embassy which

has called her for the interview.

I may be repeating but it doesn't hurt to check.
