I don't know why we don't just go over to a one - world order and get all this behind us.

Only way to get to a Type 1 civilization.

Then we can start thinking of getting off this planet and going to other worlds...

So you're turning into a ** again AJ?

No, I've never supported us joining the international war crimes court. It's a bad idea.

I'm all for aggressive prosecution of war crimes committed by Americans, I just want it done here in America by Americans.

If 'international law' inhibits an American President from doing what's right for America, I'd hope he/she would ignore it.

Dang straight. Even if it means guaranteeing more strife for us to fight later on (that IS the right thing to do too... ensure we keep those knives sharp, dangit).

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Noah Weisbord, who teaches law at Duke University and who worked in The Hague with the ICC's chief prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo, expressed scepticism about whether the US would sign up within the next four years, but he said the US can help the ICC in other ways. This included help in gathering evidence and in isolating diplomatically leaders accused of war crimes as a precursor to bringing them to justice.

The U.S. is in a fairly unique position with worldwide commitments and more likely to get hit routinely with anyone with a beef against the U.S. Funny how Milosevic and Saddam were primarily brought the court by Americans so who'll bring drag American officials and soldiers to court?

Barack Obama backed the ICC's decision earlier this year to issue an arrest warrant for the Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir in connection with the mass killings in Darfur.

The Chinese won't let the happen no matter what the ICC says or does. Have the ICC slap the cuffs on al-Bashir. Get bakc to eating Quiznos because it won't happen.

But the advisers also said that membership would be difficult while the US was still in Iraq and the prison at Guantánamo Bay remained open

Obama's working it. He just needs a few more years. Luckily, there are no war crimes in Afghanistan or Pakistan. Wanna bet?

Well for one thing - it would make unilateral military adventures (a la Iraq) rather more difficult to pull off. No bad thing surely.

And Charles will be happy when they start serving Timbits in the mess halls.
