No problem moving to off topic, but what is so offensive about my original post? My wife has nothing against Michael Jackson and I certainly meant no disrespect to the dead when I posted this.

My wife was really making a statement about the news media. Theu paid so much attention to the Jackson story, at the expense of truly important issues like the healthcare debate, the economy, the brutal crackdown in Iran, etc... She thought it a sad commentary about the media here. It's not really about what's most important, but what can get the most ratings that gets the airtime. I thought it was actually rather civic minded of her that she would get upset that the media's priorities.

The post was actually reported by someone who did find the discussion of who is the Father of the Country not being the traditionally recognized "Father of the Country" offensive and asked for it to be closed. It is more appropriate for Off Topic than where it was which is why I moved it instead.
