The polarization going on in this country politically is coming from the Right Wingers. To them, anyone left of John Birch is a communist.

Sure...there are some reactionaries on both sides of the spectrum. Some on the Left want to fight fire with fire, especially after seeing what some of the thuggery the Right is capable of. Case in point, John Kerry's military record.

Nixon was a liberal. Everybody knows that. The teams didn't officially switch sides until after 1968. Some historians think that's because Nixon didn't pay homage to MLK, and as a result he lost the Black vote for the Republicans.
