Ok, I admit it, I don't like my MIL, but I would NEVER tell my husband in a million years. She is always just SO negative. She is always sick and complaining. Life is so hard and terrible. I know life in Ja can be hard, but her children take care of her...she has a comfortable house and a comfortable bed, she has no bills to pay, and she always has food on her plate. She has a beautiful garden around her house that my husband planted for her.

When my husband sends her money she spends it on cash pot. I hear him tell her not to on the phone, but she does anyway.

Whew! Nice to get this off my chest. Honestly, though, she raised my husband and she loves him very much, and he loves her. She is also the grandmother of my son and she loves him, too. I am just tired of hearing about what a terrible place the world is!

I also hate how she comes into our Jamaican house without knocking. I am used to more privacy. Maybe thats a Jamaican thing. It doesn't seem to bother Neil.

LMAO, this is turning into the I don't like my MIL confession hour! I get along with mine - this whole situation with DJ, and the fact that she has not been to the hospital ONCE, is pissing me off - cause as a mother, I cannot understand that -

i gotta question.. i guess more for JAE when she comes on.. given the likkle topic on abstinence.. and most Jamaican men's aversion to such a thing.. do u feel that faithfulness during these LDR's is also a hard thing to swallow for them?

i mean, some couples have went LOONNNGGGG periods of time w/out seeing each other.. almost a year for some w/out one visit..what have u seen in ur experiences or what is ur take on it???

You know Quana, I would NEVER, and I mean NEVER have believed that a Jamaican man (well any man for that matter) could be faithful in an LDR. Heck, I did not think I could be faithful :innocent:

But I tell you, it is so different when you want to marry someone... I would feel like I was violating myself to be with another man now. Luckily my man's actions speak loud and clear, and I believe he is faithful too...

I am sorry, I don't buy the line of "the man can't make it" "he has needs" etc..... if you commit yourself to someone and make a promise to be faithful, then you need to keep it - It disgusts me when I hear people justify it - if a woman can do it, so can the man -

Amen! :innocent:

I never really worried about it...I trusted my husband completely. At least I know he never went out looking for it. We never spent more than three months apart, though.

If some hot girl were to come onto him hard, though, he might have a little trouble resisting. Out of respect for me, though, he has only male friends. He is of the belief that men and women can not be close friends...sex is always an issue.

He also ALWAYS answered the phone when we were apart no matter where he was or what time of day. While in Jamaica he let me answer his phone if it rang while he was cooking or something. He has always been an open book for me.

nope thats not a Jacan thing..thast a MIL that thinks she run dis cause her son lives there..u better stop that if u ever want to have privacy..

Hmmm. There goes my theory. I will have to diplomatically bring it up next time. Have Neil blame it on my American upbringing or something...Or maybe just lock the door all the time!

Question:

Today I had dinner with my aunt & her friends. Apparently my aunt told them I was engaged to a Jamaican before I arrived. One of the ladies told me that she's heard that a lot of guys who work at resorts in Jamaica pursue American women to get a green card. I responded, "I've heard that before."

What do you all say when people tell you that?

It's none of your damn business.....I'm a grown woman!!

u guys would really curse the ppl??? LOL.. i dont' know what i would say nat.. i think about it alot tho cuz i know its coming.. UGHHHH

I could never not have male friends. I find that to be very unrealistic as well, Kimmy.
