See and Im trying to convey that to my future mother in law but I don't think she is getting my point.....

What's the deal with your mother-in-law? She seems very much involved in this process... almost like she's EAGER to send her son away.

Oh, good morning, everyone!

Question: Has anyone rented a car out of the MBJ airport? If so, which company did you go with? I want to make sure the company I rent from is located at the airport and not some distance away.

Has anyone had to get the non-impediment for the interview?

It's in packet 3 as a requirement, but I haven't heard of anyone getting an RFE for not having it. Are you thinking about not getting it? I considered that, too, since it's WAAAAAY too expensive for something that seems optional.

It wouldn't be a RFE. It would be a pink (?) slip at the interview. A slip of some color anyhow.

And, YES, I have heard of people being denied until they can produce it.

See and Im trying to convey that to my future mother in law but I don't think she is getting my point.....

BUT in the end yes! u do nee it..unless ur already MARRIED :)

my son starts football this week.....why the frick did the fee go up from last year to $300???? this boy needs to get a job

also, how do you guys feel about kids having computers in their room? i am planning on getting my son a laptop this year.....if he can behave his damn self for more than a week.

I think it doesn't matter where the computer is. If they want to get into trouble with it, they will find a way.

You can set up parental controls and even request a weekly report of activities if you are that concerned. I check my kids computers from time to time and have had to have little chats with them. Their worst offense to date was an unappropriate screen name and my daughter taking pictures of herself in front of our house with the address # showing and the bar sign across the street. Had to explain why you can't pretty much point out exactly where we live on the internet.

Yes, you need it, trust me. They asked us specifically for it at the interview. Maybe requiring it is a fairly new development, but yes you need it and can get it at the same time that you get the newer version of the birth certificate, both of which you can get in MoBay.

I found that getting ready for the interview and actually getting the interview scheduled was the hardest part of the process. I was probably extra stressed, though, because I was desperate for my husband to be here for the birth of our child, and it was cut very close!

Good luck to you, mstee!

Thank you, feeling a bit overwhelmed because up until this point my future mother in law has been very helpful with the process but we are both two head-strong people and because she had a niece who went through the process about 2 years ago, she thinks she knows everything. Im trying to tell her that some of you guys just went through the process recently so you definitely know what you are dealing with and things do change....

Sus, that's CRAZY about the roof collapse @ the Jungle. I'm trying to picture where they would've been on the roof to see the stage... I can't see the pics you posted. :(

RoxieJoe, thanks for your brief interview recap. If you have a greater level of detail to share, I'm sure we'd read it!

Justucia, I just saw that you said your man loves to chat & chat & chat. That's awesome. That would probably be the one thing I wish Steven did more... just go off on tangents. I always tell him that he's the one with the sexy accent so he should talk more than me.

JG, nope, didn't know much about ackee. In 9 trips, I've only had it one time (this last trip).

Finesse, as far as kids having computers in their bedroom, I see no issue. Well... depends on the kid. If they use the computer so much that their grades or sleep suffers (like me  ) then we'll have to reevaluate. I don't have kids, though, so who knows what'll happen technologically by the time I have kids & they're old enough to have computers.

Oh, Nat....."loves to chat" is an understatement in Damion's case. That guy CAN'T shut up! If he weren't so funny and sweet, it would almost be annyoing.

Ackee is poisonious till it opens up. I've picked it right off the tree and ate it raw on many occassions. You would've thought I kicked somebody's puppy. Seems most JA's believe you really need to cook it or die. The poisonous aspect is one of the reasons importing it was stopped for a while till they could figure it out. I believe it is why it's so expensive now too.

Its not that she is eager to send him away, she just doesn't want him to get caught up in the streets, police, drugs, etc. and she wants him to have good job opportunites and a wonderful family. He has never been married, no kids, no smoking, no drinking and I think she wants to protect him. She is involved because she has a computer and she is the reason our documents get signed and returned so quickly. She has been very instrumental in assisting us. Im not even mad at her. I think she is used to doing things the best way she can. Thats how I see it. Sometimes our culture differences make it hard as well.

No smoking, no drinking, no kids, never been married, seems a little wealthier then most JA we hear about, she seems controlling right now......how INVOLVED has she been in his life?

I guess I am getting at is she a very controlling aspect to his life as well?

Nat, I had a hard time picturing it too - it looks like one of the slanted roofs that goes over the stair well - over by where the couches are on the roof top -

Oh ok. I can see how she'd have lots of advice/assistance to offer since she's had close relatives go through it & has the computer.
