Nat- That' scary with Steven and hard with you not being there to drag him to the doctors. I'm glad it turned out OK. Had he experienced this before with Ackee, but not actually gone to the doctor? Or was this just random?

I haven't started the AOS paperwork. I'm taking a break from paperwork for a little while. The most I have done is copy a list someone posted of what was necessary. I'm not looking forward to more paperwork, but even worse is the fee.

That is a small world with you meeting a neighbor at an event 45 minutes away. You could have car pooled.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

i need to start thinking about LOC.....UGHHH!! what is the cost of that mess anyway?

morning ladies! hope everyone has a great day!

yankee - ur family picture SWEET!!

Fresh mint leaves

Add to ANYTHING: beverages (tea, lemonade, juice, etc), fresh fruit, desserts, stir-fry

I want a garden so I can grow mint & basil.

I planned to go to a shrimp/crab boil later today, but I rather stay home & read/watch tv. I spent hours last night reading POE stories & AOS questions/tips. I already bought sangria for the boil, though. So I may as well go. It's just SO far away.

I'm excited (as usual) because I spent only $40 and got TONS of food at the organic store, Central Market. They had these specials where you buy one thing & get a bunch of stuff free. I bought 2 lbs of skinless boneless chicken breasts & got potato salad, bag of sweet potatoes, and Starbucks ice cream for free. I bought lettuce & got tomatoes & mushrooms for free. I'll probably have salad with chunks of chicken for lunch this week. With mint leaves added, because fresh mint leaves make EVERYTHING better.

and mojitos

my hair is a total mess

mek mi fix it

So what do think of wearing socks with sandals?

this is like scratching the chalk board for me. it annoys me. Not that I should care what people wear but i can't even look at..

my son and his friends wear socks with those adidas or those jordan sandal/slipper/flip flops.....looks kinda cute. other than that it looks like someone trying to cover up some ugly feet!

Digicel Rising Stars comes on TVJ. It's the Jamaican version of American Idol. My future sister-in-law is in the Top 6! The show airs on Sunday night, people can vote from Sunday at 8pm until Friday at 5pm. The two lowest vote getters are up for elimination. The judges choose which one to eliminate. I subscribed to TVJ at www.jumptv.com for $8/month. If you're a fan of CVM, you can watch that channel for free at jumptv.

As far as socks & sandals, it's NOT cute. When I interned at IBM in Austin for a couple of summers, the dress code was VERY relaxed (no profanity or holes in your clothes). That socks/sandals look was ALL TOO POPULAR amongst the older men. What made it even worse was that they would wear that combo with shorts: shorts, knee-high socks, and sandals.

Haven't been posting much but decided to post since the board is pretty slow now...i've been meaning to post to answer other posters but by the time i get a chance its like the board went 20 deep in pages and i felt so late so i just don't bother  ....i wanted to post about the adjustment question:

Hubby and I are doing much much better nowadays...we pretty much are on the same page with the hanging out thing cause that was one of our biggest problem...he sees where i'm coming from and how I feel about it and I see where he is coming from...I had a talk w/ my twin brother about me and hubby situation and he bascially told me to just step aside and let hubby do him...I didn't like the advice at first but did it anyway and it actually worked out in my favor...I saw since I stopped nagging he gradually stopped hanging out as much and was more at home with me...its been good every since...now the complaint i have now is that he is lazy as bleep... ...he's been like that from the beginning but i guess its getting to me now cause i'm getting closer to my due date and can't do everything like i use to by myself so when i ask him for help its a whole big thing...ugh...he feels men shouldn't do inside housework......he will cut the grass and take out the garbage...but you have to beg him to do like dishes and he wouldn't even think to tidy up the rooms in the house...it is soo annoying...

i'm very happy things are looking up!

my highlight is to say this is typical for most Jamaican men. They are taught to do everything "manly" but most will not wash dishes...i blame the mothers for this...u can try to fight this but good luck..Kashi will not clean the batheroom and i have accepted that because he cooks, cleans makes the beds whash dishes...oo he won't change the sheets..and thats my compromise i do not even fight about it anymore..so i hope u can work this out

at first, this was something i had a hard time understanding. i wasn't sure if this was a jamaican cultural thing or just particular to my husband. hubby used to tell me that most men would NEVER do this type of housework so i should be thankful.....and i would be like #######??? i have never had that mentality of women do these kinds of things and men do those kinds of things. if something needs to be done, just do it. its not like i'm going around yelling that my husband does this or that. especially if we are both working fulltime......this home belongs to the both us....we are equally responsible. i am not going to work all day AND be the maid and the cook around this bytch...i don't expect hubby to do that either. we are a family and this is an equal partnership....a marraige is about compromise.....ur not always gonna like everything u do...

Good morning everyone. Im on the way to the hospital with my 14 yr old. She has been sick for the past week. We did everything possible to help her feel better because you know the hospitals don't consider things an emergency. She has asthma so Im going to see if they can put her on a breathing treatment. She may be trying to get bronchitis. I will keep you posted.

Have a great day everyone.....

I hope your daughter feels better!!!

I kept meaning to share this & forgetting:

If anyone has TMobile's 600 minute plan for $39.99, they're running a promotion to get 1000 minutes for $39.99. I called a couple of days ago and now get an extra 400 minutes/month for $0 additional dollars!

Hey Nat - I didn't know they still had the 600 plan. I always had the 1000 minutes. I think I got it when I called and complained about paying overage. They changed it about 2 years ago.

But this is good to know they are running a special...I'll let my sister in law know.

i have had tmobile for 8 years now.

not sure if every cell company do this but if i go over my minutes and realize it before the billing cycle is up, you can call and change the plan so you don't get charged overage fees

Speaking of ugly feet...

All growing up, I HATED my feet. You'd pretty much NEVER catch me wearing any open-toed shoes or flip flops or anything through elementary school and high school. I felt more self-conscious when swimming about my feet than my body. But when I went to college, I saw that people with a variety of foot-shapes still showed them. I felt LIBERATED! I no longer felt self-conscious about wearing flip flops or going barefoot.... even when one of my sorority sisters told me that my feet looked like Shrek's, it still didn't shake my new-found joy at baring them.

Matter of fact, here's a picture:

Yeah... with messages too. I've called when I was near the end (or over) on my messages and they'll give me a block of "bonus messages." I find TMobile's customer service pretty good, esp when hearing others' stories.

I haven't reached that level yet. I find the thought of sucking any part of a foot utterly disgusting... all that slobber, yuck. But kissing feet is fine.
