No I didn't think you were attacking the board, I just felt like what you said was the truth and sometimes its hard hearing the truth. So I agree with you. Quana Im better than I was yesterday. I almost drank an entire bottle of rum cream. But I calmed down and said a good prayer this morning to stop acting a fool about this process. Im good now. lol. I have to laugh at myself because if I just calm down first and realize things are going to be fine, I wouldnt have to be drinkin the rum cream lol

Thank you to all who has helped me!

Fresh mint leaves

Add to ANYTHING: beverages (tea, lemonade, juice, etc), fresh fruit, desserts, stir-fry

I want a garden so I can grow mint & basil.

I planned to go to a shrimp/crab boil later today, but I rather stay home & read/watch tv. I spent hours last night reading POE stories & AOS questions/tips. I already bought sangria for the boil, though. So I may as well go. It's just SO far away.

I'm excited (as usual) because I spent only $40 and got TONS of food at the organic store, Central Market. They had these specials where you buy one thing & get a bunch of stuff free. I bought 2 lbs of skinless boneless chicken breasts & got potato salad, bag of sweet potatoes, and Starbucks ice cream for free. I bought lettuce & got tomatoes & mushrooms for free. I'll probably have salad with chunks of chicken for lunch this week. With mint leaves added, because fresh mint leaves make EVERYTHING better.

On Facebook, several of my friends who graduated high school the yr before me have albums from their 10 yr reunion. I guess it was last weekend. I'm excited to realize that Steven will be here in time for my 10 yr reunion! I never thought about it before, but if I had, I bet I would've said "I hope I'm married by my 10 yr reunion." Alas, I will be!

Monday, we start a new book club with the Singles ministry at church: Understanding the Purpose & Power of Men by Dr Myles Munroe. I already read the first chapter and can tell that this will be a great book. Looking forward to the discussion. I just HOPE that there will be at least a couple of guys in the class. But I know if we were reading a book titled "Understanding the Purpose & Power of Women" I wouldn't be as excited to go.

MsTee, I think we all have those moments in life where we get worked up about something for a brief bit, only to realize later that all that worked-up-ness was unnecessary. At least you used the opportunity to enjoy some delicious rum cream. :)

I'm doing something similar... going through my dresser & chest of drawers to free up drawers for Steven's clothes. I hope his clothes won't take up more than 1/4 the closet and 1/3 the drawer space.

What has always intrigued me is that I haven't ever met a practicing Christian who actually practiced abstinence. I could also never EVER imagine any Jamaican man I know actually putting up with waiting.

I, of course am MORE than open to be proven wrong!

u have found one jae!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when we first met he thought after 3 or 4 days we were good to go in the sex arena cuz we were getting a long so well, .. i told him NO.. he was a lil peeved cuz i do think heavy petting is permissable so that was a lil misleading to him. he got over it and the whole rest of our trip (11 days).. he understood and honored my decision..he has told me b4 that he didn't know whey cuz USUALLY if a woman is not putting out, he would find someone that would.. not being a ####### or anything (i guess) but sex is REALLY important to him and most jamaicans as u say jae

now after knowing him a good 4 mnths.. i did make the decision to do it cuz i LOVED him and yes i did feel bad compromising, but so it go...

Most recently i started praticing abstinence again, WHY?? its what i want to do, my body is not his and i don't owe him the right to it just because we are together.. i feel i need to sacrifice and resist temptation right now for my own spiritual walk as well as start our marriage off fresh. Roger was very upset, about this decision, like STORMING out of the room upset..not talking to me for a min upset LOL but after the initial shock he has been taking it like a champ.. he knows that our love is WAY past physical.. we enjoy other forms of intimacy .. hugging, kissing, and to me thats just as good.. it gets hard, but when we feel we're getting to the point of no return.. i stop and he stops.. he never takes advantage of my weak points.. (L)

so anyway of course this is not a LONNNGGGGG drawn out abstaining period that he has had to deal w/, just a few weeks here and there. so maybe i am not the BEST example.. but i do believe that he could handle it long term IF we had to

i for one was SHOCKED at how serious he took NOT HAVING SEX, ya'll he was HOT...kisteeting,, pulling away from me.. but i see now from ur comment its a pretty big deal.. after the first couple of days he said he just got used to it..

so what i will teach my kids is BOTH abstinence cuz i believe it IS possible to wait till marriage if u choose AND about safe sex, cuz i know the flesh is weak and i don't want them to be uninformed and make stupid decisions

Quana - u must be at work?

yep at work.. bout to go back to work.. soooonnnnn as i get caught up LOL

Congrats for sticking to your principles!

I guess I find it almost impossible to believe that the average non-christian Jamaican man would wait until marriage to sleep with his woman for the FIRST time. If BOTH of them were christian, yes I can see it.

In your situation, yes I can see him abstaining with you, because you have already reached a certain level of intimacy.

But to be honest, I am of the opinion that NO Jamaican non-christian man is going to be involved in a relationship for a year or so where there is NO sex involved UNLESS he's sleeping with someone ELSE. It may be possible, I stand to be proven wrong, but I don't think there's a chance in hell of it happening.

i agree jae, DEFINATELY if he is not a practicing christian..which was my situation and i was mentally prepared for the fact that he might be sleeping w/ someone else when we first got together, its not the nicest thing to think about but hey.. i gotta be real, i wasn't giving him none and didn't plan on it, im sure somebody else was, but i believed w/ my heart that he LOVED me. and whatever physical release he needed didn't change that..

i am not encouraging that train of thought guys.. just the way i handled my situation.. he didn't have the same beliefs as I so i don't feel i could expect much beyond him not pressuring me into sex.

we both discussed once we got serious and start talking marriage that our bodies were meant for each other and no one else from that point on..
