ells that is TOO long for certificates.. i guess the state of CA have cut back in the records office too.. DANG!

Oh yeah. I meant to comment on this yesterday...

How long does it typically take to get a marriage certificate in the mail after you're married? I googled it last night for Texas, but couldn't find an answer.

its normally one week here, at the most 2.. i guess it depends on the records ofc and how busy they are tho..

when we did it in new york we got it immediately

and when he wanted a copy he just stood in line and waited for them to print it

thank the Lord they are not like jamaica

i think if u do it in a church you have to wait 3 weeks

but then i guess it differs by state

Happy Birthday Dillon! Hope you have a great day! Here's to many many more!

It seems like in this process, we're ALWAYS waiting for SOMETHING. Now we're waiting on our certified copies of the marriage certificate. I need it for all kinds of reasons....changing my name with SSA, adding mister to my health/dental plans, getting him his state ID card, filing AOS & the list goes on. Every day I check my bank account on-line to see if they've cashed the check yet for the copies & nothing yet. They did state it could take 4-6 weeks & this is wedding season so I guess I have to be patient. <_<

Really? Wow, that seems like a long time.

I thought so too. But the web site seems to indicate the same thing. I think I'm going to call them today.

justicia..im sorry for all the frustrations.. yep girlie, uve been around.. u know how that visa thing go, but oh well u tried???

ells that is TOO long for certificates.. i guess the state of CA have cut back in the records office too.. DANG!

This is what they say on the website:

http://www.sfgov.org/site/countyclerk_index.asp?id=5568

"How to Obtain Copies of Marriage Licenses

A certified copy of a Public Marriage License is not available until 4-6 weeks and a Confidential Marriage License is not available until 10 days, AFTER the license is received from the person solemnizing the marriage. For public marriage licenses, the marriage license is returned to the Assessor-Recorder's Office. "

MsTee, I'm jealous about the 5 weeks of vacation. I'm STRUGGLING with only 3.

Quana!!!!! WHAT!!!!! That's awesome news! Congratulations.

Dillon, I think everyone missed my post earlier. Happy Birthday!

RoxcieJoe, I know you must be SUPER DUPER excited about your husband coming tomorrow. Best wishes! Be sure to give us a POE review.

MrsBuggy, my church has a married couples ministry. They do things like have a date night, where you can drop your kids off at church on a Friday night so you can go out. They also had a massage class a few weeks ago. And a book club for the married women (Intimiate Issues: 21 Questions Christian Women Ask About Sex). And ballroom dancing classes. I used to think they only had a lot of activities for singles, but since I started paying attention, I see quite a few things for married couples too.

Cuban09, I have the steps. Let me go get it & send to you...

Ok well nat is giving a mini report

MsTee and Nat have more vacay than me, i'll be eligible for 3 weeks next yr though

Happy birthday Dillon smiley-happy110.gif

Rox i would be so overwhelmed with relief i wouldn't now what to do with myself. i remember hubby and i had not seen each other for 6 mths (at that time we were "dating" [hate that word]) and when i finally saw him, the minute we were alone and starting to get mushy i burst into tears and could not stop crying

I LOVE their efficiency. We applied in queens and got married in manhattan. The queens office was horrible so I wasn't expecting much from manhattan but I was amazed when I went in. muy muy better than queens!
