Sorry mi frens, no big recap today....too lazy!

Sounds like you spent a lot of energy this weekend

:innocent:

I did but not doing what you might be thinking! LOL! It was pure parties & rum punch this weekend. We drove to Santa Cruz for the party at the park & Lehi was pretty shy around my friends....that is until they got him playing disc golf & bocce ball! Finally at the end of that party he had a big smile on his face. He's also very shy at cookouts about just going in there & grabbing a plate....I have to get the food & go share it with him. Then the house party that night was pretty fun for me & mister doesn't seem impressed until he has time to think about it. It's only the next day that he realizes it was fun!:wacko:

Yesterday we had my friend's 'pre-wedding reception' at a park in Berkeley & again he wasn't too impressed with all the drumming....it wasn't until they started telling people to take leftovers home & he scored a bottle of champagne & some brownie bites did that party become a success to him!

That is FUNNY! :D

I'm glad he is having fun even if he does not always realize it

(((Lehi)))

I love Santa Cruz love0010.gif

Just dropping in....Ells, Damien is the opposite...we'll go to a party and he'll dance the entire night. When I asked if he had fun...he'll say no  I don't waste my time asking anymore.

I love Santa Cruz too.

Congrats my2

I wish Lehi wasn't so shy sometimes....I've learned this weekend that I have to let him be & he'll work his way in on his own time in his own way. This might also sound funny but he explained to me that 'yes' he was used to being around tourists but he has never been around so many white people on a social level before so it's weird for him. I think I won't bother asking if he had fun either because I'm learning that no matter what the answer is initially, it's going to change soon enough. LOL!

Lehi loved Santa Cruz too....we've decided if we ever were rich, that would be a top choice for places to live!

Hey Ells...this actually sounds pretty accurate. I can totally understand why he feels this way...you have to remember that most of our men's experience with "alot" of white people has been strictly that of an employee (if they work in the tourism industry) or just tourist vs local. And to be quite honest, my husband isn't really comfortable around a larger group of white people because of the experiences he has had with them while working at the resorts. Now suffice it to say, he has had his qualms with black Americans from time to time, but overall his experiences w/ white people on the resorts hasn't been all that great. He has met some nice Europeans that he's fond of, but the Americans, well......... Give him some time...he'll come around, and then you won't be able to pull him away from all the white folk!

doesn't sound weird at all ells.. it def takes getting used to.. i remember as a child, my area was perdominantly black.. didn't have teachers and/or fellow students of other cultures around until i hit 7th grade and was bussed across town..

That's too cute Quana. Damien is the same way...he is always stuck to my hip. I had to kick him off the resort a few times  I always leave JA a few days before him so we can both have a break from each other

For those of you that wear weaves I have a question. Seeing that video that someone posted about the fight brought something to my mind again, and I just have to ask. Is it really worth all of that to get weave when it takes your hair out like that? And exactly what kind of weave does this to your head/hair, and how long are you wearing the weaves to cause this king of permanent (I'm assuming) damage to the follicle? I watched an episode of the Tyra Banks show and it featured black women and their stereotypes regarding hair. As you can imagine, alot of them wore a weave, and one of the ladies head was just like that. She had worn a weave so much that it had taken out all of her hair save for a few fringes around the side. It was so sad. And of course she had to wear a wig because there was nothing left to attach the weave to...my question is, "why is it so hard to let it go? especially when you can visibly see the damage that it is causing to your head, your esteem, etc?". Is it really worth it? And why are we so averse to having natural hair that we would rather be bald (and not in a cute way!) and deal with all that #######? I just get so angry...when I saw the damage that the relaxer was doing to my hair and finally said enough is enough....and went natural...was it a difficult decision to make? Yes. But when I thought of the obvious consequences, well....it's been several years that I've been natural now, and my hair is still repairing itself from the damage done by the chemicals...but it is definitely a lot healthier now than it was then...and I love it..ok...I'm done...

This is so true. Tourists can have some serious attitude no matter where they come from. I do understand how much of an adjustment it must be for him. I told him though, "I know how you feel....just like when we'd go to a street party & I was the only white person....I stuck out like a sore thumb." You're right though, with enough time, he'll start to warm up to everyone. (Of course a little rum before future events might help some! )

today I got the urge to look up flight to Jamaica. I want to go next year.

How much are flights from your area? Ever since I found out our interview date, I've been looking at the direct flight EVERY DAY hoping the price goes down. So far, it's been the same each day.

What would you guys say (without being too mean & making co-workers hate you) to ask people walking down the hall to stop knocking, scraping, scratching, whatever the wall outside your office???

When people do that, I COULD hurt a fly! :ranting::protest::diablo:

For work a couple of years ago, I was tasked with planning an outdoor event for everyone in our section. The supervisor told me he wanted to be able to play disc golf. I went all over the city checking out disc golf courses & found a good one. We have it there & no one even plays disc golf! They all went to the baseball field.

As far as noise outside my office, I wouldn't say anything. I'd just close the door & play my music louder. But then again, noise doesn't disturb/distract me.
