Hello everyone on visajourney. I just lost my job yesterday and I don't know what to do. I am pumping out applications already and hoping to get something soon. I have another part time job that starts up in a few weeks in schools, but otherwise I need to find a new job fast for weekends. If I file for unemployment to get me by for a few weeks- will the Immigration office care or even notice as long as I make enough throughout the year?

I am petitioning someone for a k-1 visa. I don't know how long it will take me to find more work and meanwhile I have a daughter to support. I am so stressed!!!! When I do get a new job, should I mail it the the service center in California where my petition is sitting- or wait and have my fiance give the embassy a copy of my new job verification letter and stubs when he goes into interview.

Please help!!

Sorry for the bad news Rank1.

I wouldnt stress out first of all.

Do you have a brother, sister, parents, aunt, anybody can Co-Sponsor your fiance....so th efirst thing i would do is ask them, and if they are ok with it you will be all set...

You have enough stress as it is with finding a new job, i wouldnt add this one as a stress on top of it...

Well - since you really didn't send USCIS anything needed for your income at this stage - you have some time to get a new job and/or sponsor.

When it gets to the embassy - that is when you will need the tax info/job info.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

do your best to get the new job, if not get the co sponsor for now, update the support info at interview time. hopefully this will buy you some time until interview. Im pretty sure now with the economy they are used to this situation but still that doesnt change the requirements of support

You do not need to submit an affidavit of support until the interview. Concentrate on getting a job. If that fails, line up a co-sponsor if Lagos accepts them (I do not know if they accept co-sponsors for K-1 visas) Do not send anything regarding your job to the Service center. Kepp it for the I-134 at the interview.
