I have my interview on the 24th August 2009 and I was wondering based on everyone else's experiance, how long did it take to get your passport with visa back after a successful interview? Kinda need to know so I can book flights and such.

01/08/2009 - POSTED NOA1 to VSC

01/13/2009 - RECEIVED NOA1, Case Pending

02/06/2009 - TOUCHED - Finacee moved so I presume that was the reason for it

05/20/2009 - Contacted Congressman's Alan Grayson's Offices to ask for assistance on our case, He agrees

06/13/2009 - 5 months and nothing, not even from our congressman :( Were is our NOA2!!!!!!

06/16/2009 - Our congressman actually made contact us for the first time in 4 weeks only to tell us they had written our address down wrong so here we are, still stuck in limbo with not a clue what's happenening

06/17/2009 - Called NVC on a off chance they might have it and they do!!!!! Woop woop. All we need now is that hard copy and were set!

06/17/2009 - NVC send our visa and petition to the london embassy - My packet 3 is on the way, woop woop!

06/19/2009 - Recieved NOA2 in the post, dated 06/11/2009. The panicing is over.....for now

07/01/2009 - Reeceived Packet 3 in the post, woop woop

My passport was delivered 2 days later... but there have been problems for some people, so I would wait until you have it before booking dates and such.

Took 5 days for ours.

Please please proceed with caution! Even people who were not on AP have experienced delays up to 15 days to get their visa returned to them!! With this slow down the embassy has been experiencing, maybe yours will fall into this as well.

There was a very sad story this spring where a girl's passport did not arrive until a couple of days late - and she missed her wedding! :(

If you feel like you absolutely MUST fly out immediately upon receiving the visa, better to wait and buy a last minute ticket. The prevailing advice on VJ is to wait until you have the visa. I'm a bit of a planner, and I would squirm at 3 weeks after the interview, and absolutely not go earlier if i felt I HAD to buy before the visa arrived.

7 days. The computers were down at the Embassy (extra day there.) The courier truck broke down delivery morning (add extra day.)

The risk you take booking early is you don't know what factors might happen to delay your visa. Also a lot of people have gone to their iterview and didn't have the right documents so a three day or even week turnaround just wouldn't happen. You have to get the missing document (sometimes from the USA), schedule the courier to pick up document/passport (won't do it same day you call), wait for it to get to Embassy, then wonder when they are going to get around to processing it, then wonder how long the courier will take to get it back.

A visa in hand before you book could save a lot of worry and stress.

Interview on Tuesday the 4th, passport returned today, Thursday the 6th.

I've been watching the prices for the flight we want for the last 3-4 weeks and they've been pretty stable. I definitely agree with everyone above. Don't book anything until you've got it in hand.

I would have to agree with everyone as you never know what the CO's would pick up on that day. It will also give you something less to worry about. On another note, Congrats to Imaisha on getting your visa so quick!
