Ok, so I belong to a number of groups that are "Wives of (Egyptians, Muslims, Arabs, etc etc etc)." And I now have a wonderful mixed group of ME/NA wives as well. :luv:

My husband knows about all these groups and has often wondered, where's the groups for men like me married to an american woman?

This has me thinking. I have the support of women who are in similar situations, maybe my husband needs support too. At least from what I've seen after belonging to tons of yahoo groups over the years, women tend to seek friendship and sisterhood on the net a lot more often then men seek brotherhood. I'm not sure if any husbands of americans groups exist on yahoo. I've never run across one.

So, if I prodded my husband into starting a yahoo group for ME/NA men married to american women, would anyone here be interested in prodding their husbands/fiances to join?

God knows it's a huge challenge to be married to an American woman :P These poor guys need all the support they can get !

*Just a little humor*

Seriously, I think it's a great idea. I don't think my husband would be inclined to join... but then again he's not "normal." But I think a lot of ME/NA husbands would welcome the opportunity to find brotherhood with others in a similar situation, and it could really serve a great need.

Glad to see you back onboard, sis ! :luv:

I would imagine that it would be helpful for him. I have read on these boards several different people saying that they hooked their spouses up with the email address of someone elses spouse. The need to vent to someone in a similar position is a HUGE help to adjusting to life in a new country (or a new spouse). Or on the other side to compare new loves about the adoped country too.

I don't know if my husband would join or not.. he says that too much talk with others about the situation can cause more harm than good but I will definitely ask him and let ya know.. GREAT IDEA :)

I don't think my husband would be interested in either if the focus was on relationships. However, if the group talked about things like suggestions for finding work, making yourself more marketable, getting your employee to let you off for friday services or provide a place to pray, he may be more inclined. The relationship privacy goes back to his religious beliefs. I also think Moroccan society can be very gossipy and it makes a lot of them reluctant to share much about their lives.

I know at one point a Moroccan guy had started a group but it never went anywhere.

That's kinda what I thought. My husband is very big on the not talking about any issues in our relationship to anyone at all ever. I'm thinking it would be more along the lines of moving to america, cultural adjustments and things like that.

I would certainly join.. but, keep in mind PAKISTAN. everyone over looks us. as we are part of asia but, next door! I hope this new yahoo group really is somethign based on unity and allowing husbands/ fiancees

to join! thats a good thing.

The pakistani men had a meet up around thanksgiving! they were are great help to each other going thought this hellish process. I think its a good way to offer support.

I would! We have spoken about this many times and i am sure my husband would be interested. How much the men would participate is what I would wonder.

Those are great ideas!

My husband would feel the same about the group being centered on our relationship. I think having an outlet on jobs and those types of issues would be very helpful.

My husband thought the exact same thing when he first got to US, that he can come here and get a hair cut and shave, etc for only $2 boy was he shock to find out it was $12 and up just for the haircut. His exact words were "I'd prefer to shave my head and go bald than pay that much"

But I think my husband's big thing was that the barbers here in the US didnt cut his hair like the barbers in Egypt did. So far we've found a barber that cuts his hair so so.

exactly... well after the first one that really messed it up I told him I would cut his hair... ohhhh wowow I had a great time but everytime we leave the apartment he has to put a hat on ;) hehehehe... but if I keep asking around I will find a good one... Rachid has a beard and not many men here have beards so that part is hard to find someone that knows how to trim them right... best of luck to all of us
