Well. . . . .

He's APPROVED!!!

Our interview was for 11am, and we arrived at 10:20 (b/c we were expecting construction traffic & freeway closures - there was NONE!). Anyway, we got there and checked in. We had a bag of photo albums (3 - wedding, honeymoon, and extras for USCIS to keep) and a bag with our binder along with wedding guestbook, some cards, and some other items. We finally get called at 11:20ish, and go back with William Van Erp (our Adjudication Officer).

He asked to see Duncan's passport (took out the K1 and put in our 1.5" thick file folder) and an original of our marriage certificate. I out my passport out there, too, but he never touched it, other than to push it aside. He asked the "standard" questions... terrorist, communist, etc. all to which Duncan answered "No."

With that, he said, "Mr. Harmsworth, you are now a Permanent Resident of the US. Congratulations." He had previously asked Duncan if Duncan was planning on travelling outside the US, and Duncan said no to that at the beginning. Just as we were about to leave, and he was about to give Duncan back his passport, I asked about the 551 stamp (thanks, Carla for that!!!). Mr. Van Erp said they no longer issue the stamp and shared that was why he asked if Duncan was planning on travelling. I mentioned Duncan's great-aunt, and William said well, I can go ahead and stamp your passport, if you think you might need it. I kind of insisted on it, just in case. And, voila'! Duncan got the stamp! :)

So, the interview took a whole 8-10 minutes... AT MOST! Duncan wore a dress shirt and tie (no jacket) and I wore a skirt and sweater. Not many others were dressed up, so, it was nice to see that we were.

THEN... we went and got his driver's license, I got my name changed so I got my driver's license too, and finally went to the SSA office and got his "Work Authorization" removed.

So, it is steak, mashed potatoes, garlic bread, and our favorite wine for dinner. YEA!!!! We're done until 2011!!!!!:dance::dance:

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: this makes me wanna cry.., We have our interview thursday and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO beyond nervous and well excited and stuff IDK congratulations and hope im here thursday telling you all I am approved....

Has anyone used Dr. Arnold to fill out the I-693? I've spent the day calling civil surgeons in the area and nobody will do it. Five offices so far and everyone wants to do a new immigration medical which I know I don't need! Do you think the fact I used an out of state doctor would be an issue at the interview? Anyone in Colorado know of any willing Civil Surgeons?

I used Dr. Arnold, & I'm in Wisconsin. No problems - AOS approved. Just use Dr. Arnold, many have without problems and for little money. I went that route when I realized that all of the CSes in the Madison area were crooks. I've heard similar stories about others in other states.

Good luck on your interview today Cerize. And congrats to all recent approvals !!! Many more to come no doubt.

My GC arrived today so it appears that it takes a week to get it from the approval date. And yes, it's the biometrics photo :-). For the next two years at least... I had to laugh though because they've enclosed a little paper pocket they suggest you use to keep your card in. I can see why since the back of the card looks like it's full of data and easily scratchable. I'm just glad it arrived.

Good luck to all who are still awaiting their interviews/approvals.

Interview done. Went fine.

Biometrics equipment broke down when we went for the appointment.

So we drove 900 miles round trip to get the biometrics done in Anchorage.

Instead of waiting two more months to have them rotate up here again.
