Any humorous or success stories of right-side adjustment?

Hopefully they all survived the accidents...

I remember going around the wrong way in a traffic circle on a motorcycle in Phuket, Thailand

with my honey holding on tight and a stern-looking traffic cop pulling us over....

I can't drive yet still got to learn. But I occassionaly got to the wrong side of the car and hubby threatens to throw me the keys and asks do you want to drive? I usualy retort with why don't you wanna live? :)

it was a bit wierd when I first visited though and not just wrong side but the whole pulling out into the junction and waiting sometimes as well.

Country: Thailand
Timeline

Luckily she only had about 10 hours of driving in Thailand, just to get her license so I could teach her to drive when she got here, rather then waiting for her to pass the written test and get a permit.

She has no problem driving and staying on the correct side of the road, but she still goes to the drivers side most of the time when she is a passenger. She is actually driving quite well, and took her written test, but missed passing by 3 questions. I found it very amusing cause I was sitting outside the door waiting for her, and all these people came out failing by 10+ questions. I am thinking English is her 2nd language, and she missed passing by 3, not so bad. She was a bit upset, cause she knew the answer to a few she had missed, she just read the question wrong.

Well I to worry about driving on the wrong side and I know my wife will not let me drive a car there. I scare the hell out of her just driving the scooter on the back roads to town, she always say "wrong side dear wrong side" :bonk:

I never drove in Britain so it was relatively easy to get used to driving on the right here. I've been driving since about March though and I still have to think hard at 4-way stops. Instinct still says 'give way to the right' as with British roundabouts.

When I went to get my learner's permit, the guy processing my application said I'd be amazed how many left-side drivers come in for their road test and fail by driving on the wrong side of the 'road' at the testing centre. I would like to think that was just him trying to be funny though - surely nobody would do that?

Homey, Marge,

My Japanese Ex didn't have that may problems over the years, just a few minor fender benders.

My Thai fiancée has never offered to let me drive her car, but she has been a passenger many

times when I drive a motorcycle (for which I am not licensed in the States). It's kind of funny

that she appears to regard the latter as the least risky of the two, but I could be misreading her

thoughts. I think the point you raised, besides the choice of which side of the road, is how to

read oncoming traffic intuitively and defensively in the unfamiliar country. Especially important

is doing this when you are a pedestrian, because there were many times when I step out in

traffic and I look left when I should be looking right (yes, she saved my life many times this way).

Gotta love her! :yes::yes::yes:

John & Nan,

I just did a double-take (squinting).

Are they driving on the WRONG side of the road,

or did your vehicle narrowly miss clipping them?

Ah hah! I see from the lower right you didn't take this pic in Thailand.

You lifted it from the internet (China). Am I right?

I have a few pics of my own like this in Thailand.

One of my favorites is the folks in the bed of a pickup ahead of us.

when my sister was with me in Thailand this year. she was freaking out when see how they ride with kids and all. Both her and her husband ride all the time in the usa, she just could not get over them. I just told her that is live her. get over it haha. Thailand is my second home and I love it in someways more then the USA.

That picture was my quest on the internet to see how many people could fit on a bike. That had 8 on it haha.

We took a trip to Phuket for a week, and I rented a motorbike. She tells me I don't know how to ride (even though I have a 1000cc sports bike here, which I race), she takes over the controls and she was constantly driving on the wrong side of the rode with the motorbike.

BTW that picture above is nothing compared to the number of people and items that people were carrying when I was in Cambodia.
