Nope. It was just a mean post that should have been removed when the wife reported it. I am surprised that the mods did not intervene. But, the genie is out of the bottle now.

Raping your housekeeper, and then paying her hush money does not make the rape go away. Rape is still a violation of basic human rights. I thought we got past this mentality of blaming the victim for going along with predatory behaviour? Evidently not in much of the world, if the news stories are any indication, especially in the Middle East.

No means no, and it's still rape, even if you throw money at her as you walk out the door.

But Donna didn't say anything about rape and that it was okay.

Donna basically said that Filipinas (of course not all of them) are willing to have sex for hush money. I guess the only thing that isn't clear is hush money for rape or hush money for consensual sex. There is no doubt that both are going on, but which percentage is rape and which is consensual can't be determined. Then there is the sex that seems consensual, but the Filipina is only doing it to save her job which is very sad.

Anyway, it is no secret what Filipinas might encounter after leaving home and there is no shortage of reports of abuse in Philippine media, that is for sure. Of course, it isn't their fought when they get into bad situations. I personal think they are ill prepared for what they might encounter and so I think the Philippine gov't and their family should set them up to better handle such situations.

The world is a mess.

If it's coerced in any way, given that the OFW is a virtual prisoner in the home of her employer in the Middle East, then the sex is anything but consensual, and the word is rape. Donna was blaming the victim, and that was wrong, and insulting to all Filipinas.

Sex for money (or favors) happens all the time friend. It is NOT limited to Filipina ladies either... :innocent:

My X wife is a GREAT example of how some ladies will gladly drop off the 'booty' to get what they want...

There are lots of people that use (or have) sex to get what they need. And yes, These people are screwed up...

True. I've traveled in Latin America and it isn't much different there. Latinas don't take as much heat for it and I'm thinking this is because they aren't able to travel like Filipinas given they have no English. In Asia, the RP, among the democracies over there, is the arm pit of Asia. Even Thailand is better than the RP. It is a real shame too, because with all the shoreline over there and the tropical weather, they could have one heck of a tourist population, but most go over there to meet their finacee or go to Angeles City to have fun with hookers. With all the shoreline, there isn't any huge resorts in the RP. You might think there would be a place, just one place, in the RP that was lined with high rise hotels for as long as the eye can see, but nothing much to speak of really. You've not travel to the RP yet so you are in for a huge shock.

I think some grown ups in some cultures are a lot more apt to hint to the little ones growing up that sometimes escaping poverty can get messy and you do what you have to do. I honestly don't know what the the grown ups in the RP are hinting - no idea really.

I still don't think Donna was blaming anyone of anything. Donna was stating what Middle Eastern men say about Filipinas. And you are right, Donna did say it in a mean way.

Thread closed for review - I didn't see the earlier report and just received another one now.

Ok, I am going to re-open this thread but with some concern. The offensive posts and posts quoting those posts have been removed. There were quite a number of rude racist comments made in those posts. There are some borderline racist comments made in some of the posts that remain as well. This issue is a sad and sensitive one. Please discuss it with respect for the multi-cultural nature of VJ and don't made broad generalizations about any one race or ethnicity. If further racist or offensive posts are made then I will consider closing this thread.

I am sorry - I did not see any earlier report or I would have removed the first of these posts much sooner.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

The race card gets pulled out.... Whew, no one wants to be labeled a racist!

I don't see any racist remarks or even borderline racist remarks. Where are the racist remarks?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism

Although the term racism usually denotes race-based prejudice, violence, discrimination, or oppression, the term can also have varying and hotly contested definitions.

Yeap, in hindsight, with all the varying and hotly contested definitions out there, there just might be some borderline or outright racism in this thread. Is there a such thing as unintentional racism? How about a racist that doesn't know he is a racist? Is there a such thing as innocent racism, because the "racist" doesn't have a broad definition of racism?

SHangri-La in Makati is not on the shoreline. It is about 30 minutes from the shore in lite traffic.

Asya Boracay - I've been there and no high rise hotel exists. There a few nice hotels however but nothing major. Boracay island doesn't even have an airport that will land a jet.

So, you want the shoreline strip, eh?

I am done with this thread. Time to take a shower and molest the wife.
