actually you don't need to jam the operator lines

just need to do option 1, then option 1 again (enter your USCIS number)

it will tell you the status if your nvc case has been created and will give you the nvc number.

I have learned to digit it very quickly!!!

#######, I started calling NVC as soon as we were approved. Why wait? If you're polite and nice to them, it will never be a problem. Plus most of the time, I just call and listen to the AVR and see if it has something new to tell me. If I get bored with that, I call and speak to an operator and see if he/she has something new for me.

Yes, I know -- I border on the maniacal but it is what it is...

:)

Hey Beth...

NVC is SO much easier than USCIS... it really is. And when you call for information, they actually have it AND they're a lot nice. THe process is tons faster though a word of warning, I found at one point stuff was coming in at us SO fast that I got panicked and stressed out about things as I thought it was going to be slow pace like USCIS...

If you have all your documents and stuff you are going to breeze right on by!

good luck to you guys.

:D

Hey LGG, sounds great!!! Thank you!!! Should I start calling NVC next week? When????

I'm doing NVC in August. Talked to them yesterday and learned that they schedule interviews with the overseas Consulate the second week of every month for the next month provided the Consulate has capacity. The way it was explained to me, if your case if approved on August 25 for instance, you will fall in the mid-September interview scheduling process and they will attempt to schedule an October interview for you. If the Consulate is overloaded for October, you miss that boat and then fall in the mid-October interview scheduling process for a Novermber interview. Anyone heard this before? Almost makes me want to go ahead with K-3 (which really has no NVC involvement) and do an AOS later.

My case is complete but I am waiting for my interview date.

not sure if they do it only the second week

but yes they told me the same they will schedule me next week for HOPEFULLY SEPTEMBER she said.

joining you here!

just been through can maybe help.

Graeat yes please help us. Best wishes for September interview. I want to finish NVC August, and pray for a Oct. interview if possible. Hey anybody, once CR-1 visa is issued how long does beneficary have to use it to enter USA????

My husband may be delayed entering USA, possible health issue, will know more from test results.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

I did I864 EZ it is a little shorter than I864 but basically the same

did not do a close comparison but happy to pick the simplest.

Translation only needed if document not French or not English

Merci.

However, I am pretty sure Montreal Consulate requires English for all documents; worst, it has to be a "certified" translation (not just the usual "translator certifies he's competent...", but a translation by a translator who's also a member of an org. here. Anyway, only one document still need to be certified. I'll confirm with the consulate once I get my NVC#...

Yeah, it has to be in English... see Montreal Supplement to instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants - but, this is not a big thing, just not fun to pay...

I'm "kinda" doing NVC in August; still waiting for my #... and then, I think we'll file electronically directly with the consulate to save on cost and delays - I still have to read about the "hows", but I know it's feasible in Montreal.

Hi La Souris, Ive started by printing the short cuts for NVC, I have my tax returns in order, the employment letter, the I-864EZ form filled out, I have the DS0230 and the DS-3032 already signed by hubby, all our docs for NVC ready, I just need his 4 passport photos, also have the police certs, and his birth cert all translated. So we just need out NVC number and we are off full steam again, UGH!!!

note

Translation only needed if document not French or not English

The french police cert is okay , its in French, the Algerian one is translated to English, and his birth cert 'Algerian" was written in French, but i had that one translated too for just in case.

Our marriage license is english, so we are all good there. I understand that Police cert. are good for within 1 year of the interview, so we are good there, i got that from the U.S. Embassy Paris website etc.

Did I miss anything?

Truly happy!!!

It's not about "jamming' the lines -- no one here is trying to be a nuisance, but a lot of the time the AVR is wrong or out of date and talking to a live operator is necessary. If you did not find this to be the case with your file, then good for you, you're very lucky. But do not advise anyone to just sit and wait and listen to an old AVR record just because you did not have to.

People here, including myself, are looking for advice and not be chastised.

No problem, please relax! sorry if you feel chastised (i'll have to look in dictionnary).

it is fine if you call the operator.

I am mentioning the AVR option because it is helpful

Had the case of a VJ colleague that did not know his NVC number and kept calling the operator and operator apparently would not be of help

this way allows you to not wait for an operator, to call outside of operators hours and find your nvc number from your uscis number.

you can do it repeated at lower cost, if you are not in a rush step or mood

of course calling the operator is a good idea.

Operator knows more and before the AVR

operator is very helpful and I advice it to everybody

but operator only operates 6AM-12AM and sometimes it takes long to get him

By the way Everybody IV or CR1 must call the operator and give emails to him

to conclude I'll tell you what I would generally do

call AVR first and then operator!!!!! like you.

It's not about "jamming' the lines -- no one here is trying to be a nuisance, but a lot of the time the AVR is wrong or out of date and talking to a live operator is necessary. If you did not find this to be the case with your file, then good for you, you're very lucky. Do what you need to do, Mohan...

We all have our own ways of figuring out information and feeling comfortable with the process. The NVC invites us to call and when we do, they're polite and helpful thus, I doubt we're 'jamming up' their phonelines.

And yeah, I don't claim to be an expert either, none of us are -- therefore, best not be rude to people, what's the point...

Peace all...

Mohan... sounds like you're zipping right along with everything! Good job!

:D

Let's hope for a speedy case closed at NVC for us and then on to the consolates....

As for the I-864ez, can I use that even if I have a child? I didn't know.

Let's all look positively at others posts.

And try to have the toungue deliver what we meant (sorry again, I though jam was good conveyor).

also not all of us are native English speakers...

It is good to go back to the "bible" and make sure all know it

LingChe NVC shortcuts

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut

In case you have not seen...

See Step 4, call NVC for your NVC number

Actually I would have only some little improvements to the LingChe shortcuts

maybe add the link about country requirements for applicant documents from the department of state great link (actually I have never seen it on VJ)

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3742.html

maybe add to step 4 that it is the moment to give your emails to the NVC operator

The question is a bit vague. do you mean you have a child at home, or you are Also doing I -864 for you child, Meaning you also petioned for your child.

On a seperate note, I have beem calling NVC three times in the afteronoon, and once before going to bed, and once as soon as I wake up for my won reasons. and have not heard them complain of me "jamming up their Phones" simply because I am going through what the AVR says. And that may not be the right way in the early phase of NVC is what I beleive. i lost three days by waiting for them to send me the DS3032 package, whcih could have been emailed to me, had I called in time.

Like others, I am here to learn and share what I have learnt so that others that come behind me may benefit from what I have gone through. I dont claim to be an expert on NVC :)

May Peace be with all of us...

oh frenchwife...

don't be hurt! It's not the word, it's the context you used it -- it was like you implied that we were all a bunch of pests for calling the NVC...

Let's forget it and move on? This process is so difficult and fraught with emotions and incidents that it's easy to make mistakes in every regard.

Let's just all work on getting ourselves though the process.

Use 'jam' all you want, it's not a bad word -- hell, I love jam -- I eat it all time on hot buttered bread.

Jam is good. Let's get us all through NVC and our respective consulates, okay?

Good.
