Mike, I'm specifically talking about these goons that show up at these town hall meetings pretending to be regular citizens when they have a specific agenda. Is that democracy for you? Because that's what thugs do.

No, they are elected to implement the policies that electors voted on. Of course, they can take into account apposing views, or not depending on the mettle of the incumbants, but as far as what they are elected to do, that's implement their stated agenda/manifesto.

There's some crazed people about - I heard Obama answering a question from a member of the public whose question essentially amounted to "So I heard that our old people will be forcibly euthanased, what's going on there?".

I think his answer was actually along the lines of "we don't have enough people to do that".

Responding to euthansasia with a dry wit was a bad idea. Even Jon Stewart thought it wasn't the smartest thing to say. Obama is the kind of guy who thought Logan's Runor Soylent Green were comedies.

Well, not if the GOP get their way. I don't mind paying them though, if they are spent on Education, State Parks, Firefighting etc. Happy to play a full part as a permanent resident as a net contributor.

We're talking about healthcare reform and town hall meetings being disrupted by thugs because Obama's trying to deliver on his promise, but the minority (the ones who didn't vote for him) are having a temper tantrum because they want it their way even though their way lost the election.
