I can say that my mistake was fueled by lack of information NOT by jealousy, but at the same time supposition isn't a great aid either when voicing our opinions...

Doctrine of dual intent was brought forward several times in this thread beginning with the third posting.....

Indeed. And some people should check the facts before they post in this aggressively self-righteous tone...

NO KIDDING!

(o the irony, I'm employing that tone myself! :D)

I would add this topic to the 'things I hate about VJ' thread; I can only imagine how the OP feels after being called out as a fraudster by people who simply had no idea. I'm sorry, but you should not have been answering if you didn't actually know the answer.

Mainer1985, if your fiance can get an L transfer from his company, your future marriage + adjustment plans are not a barrier. It is NOT FRAUD.

Many L's (and reputable attorneys) post their experiences at the britishexpats site if you want to get further confirmation from people who actually use employment visas. If the employer does not mind picking up the costs so they can have him in the US sooner, this might be a desirable choice.

Nik+Heather's choices are also an option for you.

It would be nice if someone moderated the misinformation and dual registrations from this thread.

and you should be worried... since you already posted on an internet public forum that such is your intention.

But, I haven't given any personal details, either in posts or in registration, beyond email. Which is easy to change if necessary.

Aucually, the USCIS could be employing people to come on sites such as this looking for people wanting to skate immigration laws, in which case a court order would force VJ to turn over the IP Address of the computer you are using and in turn another court order to said ISP would result in a name and there you go, they know who you are. This would take just a few days. Not saying that this would happen but you neve know...Heck anyone could get your ip address and whois you and use that ip to map your exact location in the world.

I agree. The irony is that that thread was started by one of the main proponents of said tone here on VJ.

I'm not an expert on this but i do know one thing...the L-1 can be used to get a green card. My dad did this, so its completely legal. Now, personally, I don't think it would be considered visa fraud since your husband WILL be working with his working visa. I don't want to offend anyone, but I think sometimes people here get to paranoid at the fact that other people may have a easier, faster option, because they want everyone to go through exactly what they went through. In my onpinion, you should consult an immigration attourney to make sure getting the L-1 visa, immigrating and then adjusting status through marriage is legal. If it is, then go ahead and do it, if you can get you husband here in less time then lucky you, and I shouldn't have to resent you for that.

I often get exactly that impression here, too. And I would also add it to the "things I hate about VJ" thread... Much more annoying than cheesy screen names.

I am not paranoid. My process took about 9 months. I am however, not willing to tell someone "oh, sure it's fine come in and get married on a visa that is not supposed to be for that". Doing so is going against the Terms of Service.... which you might want to read one day ;)

Coming into the US with a visa that has no stipulated marriage clause, with the intent to get married is not cool. quite simple. It is not a "faster"option, it is hoodwinking the US government.

Please note that I did not violate the terms of service (which is proven by the fact that my posts have not been removed), so I do not need any condescending advice on reading them, thank you.

Nowhere did I advocate fraud. The problem in this thread was that you and some others cried fraud where there was none. The larger problem (here and in other threads) is what I perceive as an aggressive, self-righteous way to respond to other members, and as far as the tone is concerned, it doesn't matter if what they are thinking of doing is legal or not. One can and should point out the illegality in a more courteous way. Often people simply don't know the laws yet, and are here to learn. They don't deserve to be bashed for that.
