I can´t really tell you if this is the right way to go but this is what I´m planning on doing.

I am also getting married in the US and taking my future husbands name. I´ll be filing everything in my new name, going back to Sweden and changing it legally. When you send the I-130 in there are no documents where you need to prove your name,it all comes later, at the NVC-stage and the name-change should be done by then.

There is a part on the I-130 where you fill out your maiden name aswell.

As I said, this is the way I´m doing it based on what I´v been reading.

Hope you´ll have a fast journey!

On the I-130 I used my new last name. I changed my name to my maiden name and hubby last name (and oh boy, what a name - no one will EVER say it correctly here in the U.S. :P ). I waited until I got my S.S. card and my drivers licenses to show proof of name change and copied them to add with the I-130. I didn't want to wait for the new passport, so I sent a copy of my passport with my just my maiden name. Hope that helps.

All you have to do is file every single document in the US with your new married name, including everything you send to the USCIS and NVC. The only evidence you will need to back it up is your marriage certificate. But it's as simple as that.

I did that too and had no problem at all. Beside most of the time the embassy issued the visa under beneficiary's name in passport, so if you want to have your visa and GC under your married name make sure you change/amend your name in your passport before the interview.

Good luck!!
