A couple of questions for you guys: Perhaps I misunderstood this, but I previously was under the impression that the biometrics were normally taken after the interview. In my wife's case, we received a notice for the biometrics only, with the interview to be scheduled later. Anybody have an idea how long it usually takes between the biometrics appointment and the actual interview?

And on a totally different subject, we were going to try and bring her brother here on a visitor visa(B-1). The forms look familiar(the DS-156 and the I-134), but from what I've read on the State Department's website, it appears that her brother would need to file these forms with the U.S. Embassy in Minsk(he lives in Belarus), rather than having me send these forms to one of the field offices here. Does anybody have experience with bringing family members over for a temporary visit? If so, any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jethro7,

One the first question you get the Biometrics appointment first. This is what has happen to my wife and other VJ members on this site. I do not know if there is a special circumstance that is the other way around but I do not think so. As far as time frame is varies from by District Offices and cases.

I can not help you with the second question.

Regards,

Peter Miami

jethro,

Isn't a consulate where your wife submitted those familiar looking forms? Why would her brother do any different? (You will be sponsoring your brother-in-law's visit?)
