Hey all.....just received the NOA2 in the mail today. So I called the automated voice response system at the NVC to see if our case was received. Well no luck as of yet. Gotta a few questions though....should I call an operator or just hang tight to get the NVC case number (it's only been 6 days since the approval)?

My other question is that I am wondering who all used the shortcuts (James & LingChe)? Did it work? Like calling to get your Invoice Identification number and if you don't get it the first time call 100 times until you get it? Really? How about the creating barcodes and pasting on the original sheets?

Did you have your SO send the NVC forms from their country to the NVC? I was thinking I would have my hubby send the forms either tomorrow or the following day via DHL or Fed Ex (we are already prepared - all the paper work is ready) directly to me and then I would send it from the U.S. I am WAY OCD, so I really want to take care of it for him.

Anyhow any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

I used the LingChe shortcuts to get an idea of what paperwork we needed to gather- it's good in that sense. Some things are outdated though I guess. An operator will never give you the IIN anymore, nor do you need to create your own barcodes. As soon as NVC receives your file and assigns a case number you should speak to an operator and give them an email address for both you and your spouse. They'll then email you everything you need to know. You can email them the DS-3032 once it's generated, no barcode needed. They'll send you the AOS and IV Fee Bills right after they are generated, so you'll get your IIN that way to pay online. You'll have to physically mail the packages back to them but it still definitely saves you a ton of time.

Thanks much Betsy and Imaisha. I just want this part over as quickly as possible, so we can get to his interview. Cairo  ....not looking forward to the "wait" before the interview, after we are done with NVC.

CONGRATS on NOA2

To say that we used the shortcuts would be kind of a lie. We just followed the steps as NVC always give you instructions, it seems pretty clear what to do. And may be because I've read so much on VJ that I didn't need the shortcuts to proceed. Ever since we started this process I've been reading on VJ ppl's experience so when the time for NOA2 came, I was ready with documents, etc. Also, nowhere in shortcuts will you find that if you have been in USA on a J-1 and F-1/M-1 you'll need to send NVC also copies of all your previous visas to USA and DS-2019 in order to avoid any RFE. You'll not receive it in the NVC instructions either. I just already knew I'll need to send them with the DS-230 package to avoid RFE and was successful

I find James2 shortcut kind of not well organized. LingChe is good. We mostly looked at the other one "How do I bring my spouse (husband/wife) to USA": http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...nited_States%3F

Good luck in the rest of the journey

I used bit of the shoetcut info but I found them both to be outdated now that NVC are using email for everything rather than snail mail. I also found the officers at NVC to be very helpful and they gave very clear instructions about the process. I had all the documents ready before we got the NOA2 and I did use the shortcuts to see exactly what I needed to get.

Good luck with your NVC journey it will be over before you know it..

Yes it does work. You can have your spouce send the docs directly to NVC when they request it after the payments are received; make sure that they are inorder and signed where applicable. Good luck.
